Star Wars Merchandise - What A Mess!

How nice of you :)

Thanks, but what does a 53 year old woman need with a Darth Tater? I tend to be an impulse buyer. I just can't resist something cute. I'm sure he will be much more appreciated in the hands of a nice little person!

Feralpeg we're cloning you!!! That is really nice of you! :cloud9:

If anyone is going and would pick me up a Darth Mickey I would be all too grateful. We are also hoping for a Star Wars Weekend pin that looks like Darth Vader has Mickey Ears on and Mickey is painting him...? Does anyone know what Pin I mean?

I can pay through Paypal and my DH (StarWarsMan) would worship me like a goddess...Is anyone willing to help me make this happen?..LOL

PhotobearSam, I can't promise you a pin, but I will be going back to MGM this weekend. If I see the one your talking about (I did see last time I was there), I will pick one up for you. I'll PM you if I can get it.

Lori, Saw your post! I'm glad you didn't stand in the major line. I saw this thread early yesterday and was worried you might have!

It wasn't anything like this last year. We did the lines for autograph fast passes and then hit the traders later in the day. Was like 5th in line and got Jedi Mickey and anything else we wanted.

Sharon

So is the final verdict that Darth Mickey's are sold out completely? No more for the rest of the SWW? Just trying to figure out if I should bother showing up at MGM on Friday (its our MK day...)

You can't really blame the sellers....they know what people want and are willing to stand in line for hours and hours to buy the Mickey's...and for the buyers, many don't live near Disney and are fans so how else would they get one? And even if you are at Disney, I personally can't think of ANYTHING I'd stand in line for that long on vacation time.

You do not have to buy pins off of Ebay to get them. If you use the Pin sites that announce when Pins are coming out, you can use Mail Order Services at the park. I typically call the day that a Limited edition pin is going to be released and give them my credit card number and whola, in about a week I have that hard to get pin that I wanted. Am I the only one trying this? :confused3

Well, I bit the bullet and put in a few bids on e-Bay. I have a nephew who would love the Darth Mickey. Actually my DH would love it too. I agree in a couple months when the hype is over, "He" will be much cheaper!

I really can't believe they didn't stop the guy who bought two and got back in line. That's just wrong. As much as I love eBay, things like this are also the reason I hate it. :sad2:

On the other hand, look at all the fans who would otherwise have NO chance to get one, since they couldn't go to WDW at this time. And now they have the opportunity to buy one on eBay. It's not all bad.

Does anyone have a picture of the Jedi Mickey? And are the non-collectible toys available year round, or just during SWW?

How much did Darth Mickey cost? How much is Jedi Mickey, and is that not as limited as Darth?

I went and looked at the ebay auctions (no, I won't be buying one off ebay, WAY too much money... :earseek: ). But I thought this auction was cute:

:teeth:

Is that the Jedi Mickey pictured there?

I don't know how much Darth Mickey was, because I never managed to actually get my hands on one. LOL! That is Jedi Mickey in the picture. He is not a limited edition. The limited edition Jedi Mickey was out a prior year. Jedi Mickey is $11 plus tax. There is no shortage of Jedi Mickey. Not only is he available at MGM, you can get him at DTD as well.

I was at the park before opening Friday. They did have 2 other locations that you could by some Star Wars merchandise at. Not the pins, but they had plenty of t-shirts and posters. It was a nightmare getting off of the ride Friday, no place to walk at all, so it sounds like it has actually improved somewhat. As far as the lines, with the movie just opening I think you should expect it to be totally nuts! :earboy2:

I was there the same day. We were walking by the shop and I saw that line, I had no clue what it was for. We stopped for traffic because across the way from that long line of people trying to get into the store they had a long line to have prictures taken with Princess Laya. Now that was a traffic jam I wish I would have by passed. I was amazed at the crowd level that day. I had been earlier in the week and it wasn't that bad at all. I guess allot of people get into Star Wars. I have to admit that seeing all the Star Wars Characters out and about around MGM was very cool.

Ok, thanks. :)

Does anyone know if you can get Jedi Mickey through mail order? (will wait until next year for the Darth Mickey)

Does anyone know the number for mail orders??

I just got back from MGM. I went over this morning to look at the Star Wars Weekend merchandise. I got there about 9:30am. They were not letting people into the shop. You had to stand in line and they would let a few people in at a time. They were not letting anyone getting off the ride stay in the shop. There was already a line from Tantooine Traders back to the Muppets. I got in the line and stayed there for an hour and a half. At that point, they said it would be another two hours to get into the shop. Once in the shop, it would be another hour to get to the cash register. At that point, I said forget it and left. Of course, there were a lot of people there for the limited edition pins and the Darth Mickeys. They only made 3000 of the Darth Mickeys and were limiting people to two. I had no interest in the pins, but would have loved to get a Darth Mickey. Oh well.

I think they could have set things up better. If they had set up several pin stations around the park, people could have moved through much faster. They could have set up a separate line for the Darth Mickeys.

I felt sorry for many of the people in line. They just wanted one of Star Wars weekend T-Shirts and were going to be going home. They were wasting the last day of their vacation in line. Just before leaving the line, I gave my email id to a guy from the UK. He was in line with a baby. He really wanted a T-shirt, but there was no way he was going to be able to stand in the sun for 4 or 5 hours with that baby. I told him to email me and I'd get a T-shirt another day and mail it to him.

They need to organize this thing better!
Hello Feralpeg! We were the people who were waiting in line for the T-shirts and leaving the next day. I thought I'd let you know what happened to us. Shortly after you left, I noticed in our handout that Star Wars things were being sold at the gift shop near the ABC Studios bldg. I left my 2 girls in line at Tatooine Traders and went over there. They had the T-shirts that we were looking for and opening day pins which was really all we were after. I called the girls on the cell phone and they came on over, leaving their place in line. I still had to wait about 45 minutes to get to the register, but that was a whole lot better that 2 hours! It was nice to meet you and chat about DIS stuff while waiting. :flower:

Hey! I'm glad you got what you wanted. I went back over with DD that evening and found T-Shirts at the stand outside. We did eventually get into the store, but of course they had no Darth Mickeys by that time.

It was really nice meeting you. It's always great to put a face to a name!

I will be going to the world this friday!! If anyone would like anything I will be down there for the second and the third SWW weekend--just PM me.

There were T-Shirts and two of the pins generally on sale at various locations. There were also some of the coins and pin sets on sale next to the Commisary. However, most of the speciality pins were only on sale if you waited in line that was estimated to be 4 hours at times. I wanted some, but not that bad.

Good time overall though
