We are planning a trip in 2019 for star wars land.... I have read it should open summer of 2019...does anyone have any thoughts on if it will open by June? We are at this point planning our trip for December but we also may need to move it to summer to accomodate some schedules.

Disney hasn't announced any firm date and I wouldn't expect one until much closer to that time - like a couple of months at most. To be safest I'd plan as late in the year as possible.

I have read as late at the holiday season, so early November possibly. The announced opening of Mickey's train for late April/early May would then help support more foot traffic over the summer of '19.

Probably close to the end of the year, but we are all DVC members here anyway, there is always next trip, doesn't matter.

Well, I hear ya, but I am planning a big trip to take star wars crazy family and we are super excited.... So.. thats why the question. Thanks!

If you really want to experience Star Wars that year, I would suggest plan a trip to Disneyland instead. They are months ahead in progress. Plus they have Cars land and GoG Mission Break out which are unique, it worth checking them all out at the same time.

good suggestion... will consider it.

Something like that, but it's not due to any delays. Construction started later at DHS.

Right, DL started construction earlier because WDW had the final year of Osborne Lights before starting construction afterwards.

I second this. We just went to DL last week, and Cars Land is still just such a sight to behold. It’s amazing. We love DL because the locals (which make up about 80% of the park attendees on any given day) don’t show up until the park has been open for an hour or two. They’re on “California time” and also go more regularly so they aren’t there for rope drop. With the EMH every morning, we rode everything so many times. Love, love, love DL. If only it was closer... :(

It’ll be crazy no matter where you go for Star Wars Land, but DL is on track to do open theirs sooner. I wouldn’t be shocked at all of it didn’t open at WDW until early 2020. They always seem to run behind schedule in FL.

sounds like you had a nice time. the issue is distance, we drive to florida from texas.. harder to drive ca! but, its a thought!

We haven’t driven to WDW since we were in college. However, with these crazy airfare prices, back to driving we go...

We’re also planning on driving to a lot more places including SW Colorado. California is definitely more of a haul. I will say that we flew to Orange County a couple of years ago for only about $200/ticket. It wasn’t a holiday time, so the tickets were cheap. Just a thought. ;)

If I had to plan a big family trip specifically for SW fans, I would wait 2020. WDW is behind Disneyland in construction and you never know what could happen between now and 2019.
I planned a trip in early 2017 sure I would be able to watch River of Lights, it was delayed more than a year.
If you are huge SW fans, I'd plan Disneyland for late 2019, it looks like a more secure bet.

I hear ya... I will talk with my family and lay it all out and see what we decide... ugh. so much to consider... my cousin has a big family so expensive in general...

I know air is high lately it seems! I would love to go to disneyland... but if we go any other time than summer getting grand ca dvc will be impossible.... and maybe impossible even then. we may just have to wait summer 2020 at DW...

I would recommend taking a transfer or renting from a VGC owner and then renting your own points to break even. We just did this to get our room there with a transfer. I’d do it again.
