Star Wars Land and Cars Land Rumor

I would have to head to DHS and camp in front of Muppets if they thought about closing it. Is it a little old? Yes. But it is the last thing Jim Henson touched and I would be in mourning if it went away. I remember the day he died. We still need his genius in the parks.

I thought the same thing....

My thinking is DHS will get a version of Radiator Springs, but nothing else from cars land. Star Wars land to me just seems like a pipe dream like the whole marvel land idea that people keep suggesting.

Yes I know Disney owns Star Wars now, but given the fact that the upgrade to Star Tours really hasn't changed much in operations there. Other then when it first opened it is apparently a walk on most of the time, or very short lines.

At least one of these needs to happen. DHS needs an upgrade now I wait until the day that they announce something. I sit here waiting patiently DHS needs help and fast.

disney lover at heart

Here what they need to do take the back lot quick service change that to the new star wars themed restaurant. Take the old drew Carey attraction turn that into a meet and great or a ride or something star wars themed. That will be your new star wars land then cars land will go where the back lot and motor and lights show is and have it go right up to pixar place and build all your attractions for cars their. Then they could finally build the monsters inc roller coaster that they have been talking about for year right next to toys story mid way mania and it will still fit the theme of pixar place. Take the restaurant that next to the play area and change that to a pixar restaurant and redo the play area to pixar theme or make a new play area that fits the theme better.

Then get rid of pizza planet and make it a muppets themed pizza restaurant and that will tie in the store and attraction and that will now be jim henson studios.

Take mama melrose and redo it to an Agent P restaurant and move the car meet and greet to cars land and finally make it into a perry meet and greet and turn that christmas store into a agent p store.

Right their you have four new lands and get to reuse a lot so saving money which disney would love. Then you could have a star wars themed holiday displays and extend the osborne light down route 66.

but the sad thing is disney wont see all the great things they can do i also hope they don't take away muppets show.

That'd be great. It'd be cool to see a change up in DHS. Seems like its been like the way it is for a while. but why expand the Star Wars area? The new Star Tours isn't that popular, is it?

They well be producing new movies. Hopefully good ones.

Let's hope it is some part of Cars Land because it's AMAZING!:worship:

Awesome scoop. I'm not a fan of Cars Land at all in California, but they need to do something at DHS, and Star Wars Land (I hope it gets a better name) will drive a ton of traffic.

I want a Star Wars Land here at WDW strongly. I think more kick butt rides and the Mos Eisley Cantina would bring fans in.
And prove to be a good competitor against the kid with the Wand. (I still love you Harry Potter.)

Look at how popular Star Wars Weekends are. :thumbsup2

The Cars Land rumor has been out there for so long and been predicted several times that someone is bound to be right one of these days.

Closing the Muppets would be distinctly unpatriotic...
But last time we were there was just as the film was out and even then the shop was more than half taken over by Phineas and blooming Ferb! so I fully expect to see the Muppets go!

I know Muppets is dated, but I will be upset if they get rid of it. There is a new Muppets movie coming out, the attraction needs updating, not demolition. Jim Henson worked on Muppets 3D himself and his characters deserve a place to live on at WDW.

As for Carsland....still disappointed they are cloning another attraction from Disneyland. Would much prefer the long rumored Monster Inc. coaster and/or some Incredibles love.

Star Wars? I don't really care either way, I think it would be good for DHS, but I'm not a huge fan. If it takes out the embarrassing Backlot Tour and LMA I'm good with that.

Muppets replace Captain EO - which is more dated...hmmmm

Theme Park Insider is a pretty reliable site, so I'd take more stock in this rumor than the typical ones that have been floating on the boards.

I love the Muppets and that movie, but I'm good with DHS getting a makeover. Cars Land on its own would be disappointing, but combining that with Star Wars Land would be great! It changes my opinion on having Cars Land because it makes for a big draw to the park. If these rumors are true, DHS would become something entirely different and would experience a DCA type attendance bump. It might even be higher than that if both were well-done. This is an intriguing concept.

Oh, but it's not confirmed yet... (joke for those who travel on the news and rumors board)...

But I am hearing from various sources this morning that there is a LOT of internal buzz over this...as if an internal announcement has been made.

Do you really think they would take out Muppets? I don't go see it every trip but I think it would be sad if they took it out.

I do hope they do something with DHS I would love for there to be a reason to get my family to stay there longer. We usually go with my parents, my siblings and their kids and they only do a few things at DHS then leave. My mom got mad at me last trip because I demanded we watch the Beauty and the Beast show because my daughter is obsessed with that movie. I would be willing to split up but they mostly pay for everything so it's a catch 22.

Sorry for my rambling

I think it somewhat more likely that they will take out Indy and expand that way, than expand the other way and take out Muppets and potentially Streets Of America. But there are gotchas either way.

If you take out Muppets, you are taking out a franchise that has seen a recent resurgence, and has a sequel movie in development.

If you take out Indy, you are losing a massive stage area used for other things. I don't know if those things can relocate easily to the BATB stage on the other side as I personally don't know if they need THAT much space. Indy does still appear to draw crowds though - it seemed pretty full a couple weekends ago - don't know if that's just SWW crowd effect.

If you take out Streets Of America, you lose the Osbourne lights. Wouldn't work as well on Tatooine I think. :)

A Cantina has been part of the rumors...you don't need a third counter service between Backlot Express and Studio Catering Company. If you take Indy you also take Backlot Express, so you'd probably want the Cantina. To take out SCC, you've got to expand all the way up into the Backlot area, possibly losing a good buffer that already exists between the areas. I know the article mentions the playground as being part of Star Wars Land, but that's alongside SCC and on the other side of the wall. I think they could keep the playground and cheaply retheme it to A Bug's Life as part of the Pixar expansion :)
