We are going next Summer (mid July). Our plan is to buy AP's with the hope that Star Wars Land will open in time for Summer 2019 so that we can go back for our second trip within the AP period.

We did AP's in 2015/16 with the expectation of being able to get back to SWW, but we all know how THAT turned out. :sad1:

I know NFL opened far later than it was originally planned, so my question to the experts is this...

Yes or no to AP's with the expectation of SWL opening in time for us to get there by July 2019?

Honestly, it's too early to say. The announcement at D23 was that Galaxy's Edge would open in 2019 - but no specific date has been provided. The conventional wisdom is that Disneyland's version will have a soft opening in late 2018 or early 2019, with the earliest projected opening at WDW for May 2019. Depending on your source (and their view of construction to date), however, some predict a Fall opening for WDW. Based on the information available so far (which is mostly speculation), you might have a 1-2 month window of overlap with your APs and the opening.

Of course, even if the land isn't open yet, you could always show up and get in the queue - I'm sure there are plenty of folks waiting for this who'd willingly line up a few months in advance if Disney would let them.

I feel your pain on SWW--did that too :( Considering how NFL, RoL, and Pandora opening dates went, I'd say no. Then buy your APs once the date is certain and use them for your SAw trip......and the next one! Cuz you know there will be stuff you'll want to do again and won't get to because of crazy lives the first time.

I'm thinking SWGE will either open early 2019 in California and open in Florida in May for Studios 30th or open during D23 in California and fall/winter in Florida

The latest I've read from insiders is they don't expect it to open until fall 2019. They expect DisneyLand to open "summer" meaning May but 3-4 months longer for DisneyWorld.

I'm going to say it is unlikely that SWLand will open here by July 2019

I doubt it will be ready for July '19. I also wouldn't count on an AP getting you in for the opening. There have been rumors that they may black out AP's for a while when it opens.

Star Wars land won’t open in WDW in July of 2019. You’re looking at October or later timeframe instead. Disney has said Disneyland’s will open by the next D23 expo and WDW will open in late 2019 but fiscal 2020. Fiscal 2020 starts in October 2019.
