Has anyone been to this? Taking the crew on Saturday 12/12 in Indy. Are cameras allowed? Should be get there extra early to look around? :confused3 Please help!

I would LOVE to take ds to see this, but unfortunately its not showing around here anywhere. It looks so cool! Have fun!

Definitely get there a bit early. Though be prepared to wait outside; the event I went to had a delay even in the VIP event, and everyone had to wait outside longer than the schedule said they would.

The venue said no cameras, and they had a slight bag check...but TONS of people had cameras as evidenced by flashes. Also evidenced by the people taking pictures with the characters roaming the main area before you go to the seating. BUT I think those people were *local*, and I don't know if every area has the costumed people who work those events.

That said...other than taking a picture of a possible character, or taking a picture of a replica of some sort of certain kind of "blaster" used in one of the movies...there's not much point. It's an orchestra with a big huge video screen behind it.

The show was good, I'm glad we went, but glad we got the cheap seats. With the speaker systems, it sounded exactly like I was listening to a CD of the music; the musicians might not have actually been playing, I'd never know. It's gotten DS into listening to the music of the movies, and that is really cool!

Thanks bumbershoot! We got the cheap seats, too...but there are 6 of us in the fam going, so closer seats would be waaaay too expensive! DH is super excited since he's the big SW nut in the house. :thumbsup2

We're going on Saturday also. My DH read some great reviews. We were planning on cheap seats, but my DH went directly to the box office because he was downtown. He only payed $2 more for Club Level than we were going to pay online because he had no other fees.

Glad to help. I am sorry if I sounded negative, by the way...I have a pretty big fear of the nosebleed section, and that's where we were...I wanted to duct tape myself and my son to our seats. :)

We also went the day after we got back from DLR, had to drive to Portland then back late late at night. The experience is kind of colored by that, and by being very unprepared for standing outside in bitter cold (this was early October) for as long as we did!

The energy from all the mega-fans is fun. They get VERY excited.:goodvibes

Oh, the best thing for me was finding out that that funky trilly sound (that I'd never noticed in the movies before) in the Darth Vader theme is made by flutes! I used to play the flute, and I enjoyed finding that out. :upsidedow

Oh FYI, the programs are $$$. Everything is $$$. They had a cute little keychain LED lightsaber though...that was $10, and it's smaller than similar things you can get at Disney for about $8, but we got DS one anyway.

We're going as well to that show, looking forward to it. I'm from Anderson originally as well. Did you go to High School there?

#@*% $!*@&^$

I wish I had that thought. I live 30 mins from downtown, but would have made the trip and grabbed a nice dinner downtown as well....can't believe that didn't occur to me.

We saw it in October. Our boys loved it. The only thing that bugged me was how they had the exhibits set up on the arena concourse. They had some really cool stuff including Darth Vadar's costume, original lightsabers, etc. Everything was in display cases behind glass. They put the display cases on both sides of the concourse. Then they didn't put in any foot traffic controls so people were walking every whichway trying to get close to the exhibits. Some people tried to pose their kids in front of things and then got upset when people walked in front of them. But it was so crowded that there was no way to stop moving without getting pushed from behind.

My older son who has Asperger's is very sensitive to being touched by people he doesn't know. He was getting jostled and bumped from all sides in the mess. I would have avoided the entire area if I could have, but we had to walk in that direction to get to the correct entrance for our seats. I think they should have set up ropes to keep traffic flowing in both directions and not allowed people to cross over whenever they felt like it.

Once we got inside, the music and film clips were great. The concert was a little short, in my opinion. The first half was only 45 minutes and then there was a 20 minute intermission. The second half was also about 45 minutes. There was an encore of Darth Vadar's March but we left before that so we could get our son out of the arena before it got crowded in the concourse again. All this said, we did enjoy the concert - just not the exhibits.

We went a few weeks ago. It was awesome. We were 5th row from the orchestra. It was so much better than I expected. We brought our camera in. I don't recall hearing anything about no cameras.
I don't know about the exhibit. We were planning on being there for it, but got stuck in traffic and did not make it to see it before the show started.

My son (9yr old) and I just went last night and had a great time! He leaned over and whispered THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! to me just after the show started, he was so happy!

Our show started at 7:30 and we got in around 6:30, spent about 30 minutes looking at the exhibits and then went to our seats around 7:10. The really popular exhibits were the most crowded (DV, Chewie, Yoda, C3PO) but some were not as bad (guards, blasters, helmets, Plo Koon). There were characters everywhere (Clone Troopers, Boba Fett, Chewie) and it was a bit of a free for all to get pictures with them - just kind of a throw your kid in and go for it!

It did say no cameras but I commented to a friend that I believe they were talking about professionals with zoom lenses, not your average point and shoot.

We had a great time and hope you will too!

Enjoy the concert. It's excellent. And the HD screen.....WOW. I can't wait until they release the movies on blu-ray....it looked so awsome.

I guess it depends on your venue, but yes I brought in a camera. My tickets only asked for "no flash photography" but I have a nice point-n-shoot that takes great pictures in low light. I took a ton of pictures. And yes, you should plan to arrive at least an hour early to look at the exhibits and fight the crowds to move through to each one. Far as I know every city on the tour as a lot of characters from the 501st and Rebel Legion to pose for pictures with the kids. Please remember, those folks are volunteers, not professional actors or even paid at all.....a lot of folks were very rude to them at the show we went to demanding attention for their kids. They often cannot see or hear well in those costumes and some of them put thousands of dollars into them and had kids being flung into them. They simple didn't have enough help (not in costume) to help control the crowds.

regards

I sure did go to HS in here. I went to Highland. Now the school system is trying to combine Anderson & Highland....not a great idea. It's almost as bad as when they closed Madison Heights. People are ticked off! (Myself included!)

We went and had an awesome time! :thumbsup2 Gotta get some pics posted tonight.
