I'm crossing my fingers for good merch, but we don't get in until later Thursday morning, and hope to avoid the Expo when it's at it's maddest.

That's one of my hopes too ~ avoiding the lines! :goodvibes

Thanks Kim!!!!!! Seriously, if you get there and they have a wine glass can you grab one for me? I'm gonna go message you my cell number so you can text me if you find one!

No problem!! Just 1 or 2?

And if anyone's interested, they just posted that the Dooney and Bourke purses are up for pre-purchase.

General question for anyone who has done a Disneyland race...Once you leave the finishers area, can you get back in later? I will be done a bit before my husband, and I want to get out of the area and go get my sister and my girls, and watch him on the end of the course. But then I want to be able to get back into the finishers area to get some pictures with him. Anyone know if that is possible? I wasn't paying much attention to the whole set up when I did the Disney Half in September. I just left the area pretty quickly to go meet him by the Disneyland hotel.

You can go into the family reunion area. You just can't back through bag check to the finish line.

Hi all! This is my first disney race and first time at Disneyland, but 4th 13.1.

Couple of questions. Looking at the course map, first 4-5 miles are in and out of parks. Rest on city streets. Would characters be just in the parks and more cheer groups/bands on city streets? I'm thinking first 4-5 miles slow, enjoy parks, than pick up pace and head to finish?

The official characters will be in the parks and on property. Once off Disney property there will be different cheer squads and possibly fan groups (there was a large contingent of fans dressed as super heroes along the Avengers course).

Depending upon which corral you are in, you may have no choice but to take it slow while on Disney property.

Yup thats basically how it works! Enjoy your park time and then get to work once you hit the streets! The cheer groups and bands are always lots of fun and supportive too of course but the streets is where I make up my time.

I hope they're there; they were so cool at Avengers and it gives you more photo ops than in the parks. I'm always in awe of the detail that the people who make the costumes put into it. They are so talented.

I know they reached out to fan groups for some of the Star Tours update footage in the ride and it's tradition for the 501st to march at DHS Star Wars Weekends every year. I would be very surprised if there weren't some fan groups in costumes along the course outside of the parks.

I can't believe that race weekend kicks off in just 2 weeks now. My final back to back Rebel Challenge runs are this weekend.

Oh that would be so fun! I was a little worried the course would be kind of boring with so much on the streets and no major highlights/landmarks to go by like the Disney Half had. But seeing people in costume would be fun. I recently ran a holiday 12K and when I got done I said to my husband, "Disney races spoil me. Regular races are so boring with no entertainment or many fans along the way to cheer you on!" Looking forward to the fun, and hopefully slighter warmer temps on race days than they currently have. Brrrrrr!

I'm very hopeful that the 501st will come out for the event. Their costumes will be movie quality, and they'll have any character you could even imagine. I hope they are there outside of the parks because they'll be a great photo op stop.

Is anyone else really bummed about the amount of closures during race weekend? World of Color really hit me hard and Matterhorn and Haunted Mansion and Soarin'... the list goes on. This is my family's first trip out there and while I can understand a few attraction closures during race weekend, several big attractions closed during race weekend is just not magical. I'm sad.

Unfortunately I think it's the start of the refurbs for the 60th anniversary. There have never been this many closed before in January when Tinker Bell was that weekend.

You know, I've thought (Oh no! ;) ) that these half this n that marathons might be fun. But.... then I remember how one I don't run fast, two I don't really like running, three I don't like sweating, and four really honestly the only thing that I'm that good at running is my mouth. lmao! ;) No, really man.....
Oh also I forgot to mention that I can get tired just watching other people run! :faint:

I am bummed about the refurbs, mainly the ones you named and this is our family's first ever trip, but I got to thinking, the trip is what you make it, there's a lot of really cool rides that are not at WDW or are diff from the WDW version and everything's within walking distance. And the upside is we all have a reason to plan another trip in the future!!

I don't run fast, and I don't like running, and I don't like to sweat, but I manage to have fun just the same! (Of course, I'm sticking to the 10k, rather than the half.)

I do feel for all of you who are coming for the first time or first time in a long time. January always seems to have quite a few refurbs so I was expecting it. HM is always down in Jan cause they're taking off the holiday overlay. Soaring is the one I'm most disappointed about and I go to DL 4 times a year so I can only imagine how bummed you are! I hope you still find lots of attractions open that you like.

This will be my first Disney run and I don't know what to expect! Do people try and hurry to get a good finishing time or do people take it slow to take it all in and photo ops?
