We go to DW all the time and we usually try to plan to go when they have the Star Wars weekends because my DH is an avid fan. Is it the same at DL or do they have them more regularly? Does anyone know the dates for DL?? Any info would be great!!!!!
Thanks

No Star Wars Weekends at DL, although that would be cool.

The only thing we have is that they recently added the Jedi Training Academy where they call up about 20 kids, teach them some Jedi moves, then each child gets to battle either Darth Vader or Darth Maul. It's cute, but my son is so disappointed he didn't get picked, even after trying 3 shows straight.

Unfortunately, DL doesn't have Star Wars Weekends. I've heard that there will be an unofficial gathering of fans sometime this year, but nothing along the lines of the official WDW events.

What's the age on this? 18 year old Jedi Knights banned from participating? :rotfl:

I have had fantasies of bringing along my lightsaber in my bag and jump out when Maul and Vader arrive. :darth:

I can dream, can't I? That is this year, right?

What time do you suggest that we get to the "jedi-training"? How long of a show is it?

I would say the show lasts about 30 minutes total. We read an old thread and supposably the first and last shows have the least amount of attendance (some of the regulars may know more about this for sure). The first show makes sense, since most people are running around hitting rides and getting fastpasses.
We went to the first show of the day and almost all the kids were picked. We were in Star Wars attire and had a nice big sign with a Jedi message on it (he was the first one picked).

Hey thats cool! Teach the force young they should.....:yoda: Do they use Lite Sabers (sticks) for the kids? That would be a funny site, a bunch of todlers wacking each other. I didn't notice that on the list but I bet it would be fun.

There's also a Star Wars exhibit at the CA Science Center in March-April or something like that, if you wanted to tie that into a DL trip.

Where is the CA Science place at? My husband is a huge Star Wars fan and I'd love for him to see it. Thanks.

Yes they do. They're the telescoptic kind, that when you whip them they expand. It's alot of fun and the kids are taught certain moves on how to use the saber. They keep building on each move, so that by the end, they have a routine for fighting and defense. The guy who was teaching the moves was extremely patient, and made all of the kids feel like they were doing a great job. Oh, and the kids don't whack each other. They get the chance to fight Darth Vader! I wish my sons could have been able to do that when they were young! They would have loved it!:thumbsup2 Oh and by the way, there are children of all ages, not just toddlers. Have fun!

I think the description says 12 and under or 13 and under, something like that. My son is 11 but very tall so he looks 14 at least. He was raising his hand, jumping up and down, had a SW tshirt on, but still didn't get picked. You would have thought that after the 3 straight show, the Jedi Master would have picked him but he didn't. I tried to explain to my son that they probably thought he was too old. But others have posted that they have tall kids too, but they were still picked. :confused3

There were kids of varying ages. Most got picked by either having some SW attire or props, bright colors, silly hats, or dad's raising their kids up above the rest.

The show is every hour starting at 10:30 till 4:30. The Jedi Master tends to pick kids around age 4-8 from what I seen. I wish all the kids can participate because I saw some really disappointed faces when they didn't get pick. My son was one of the lucky ones and it was the highlight of our trip.
