Star Wars dessert party

I've done the party 3 times. The last time was last year in the spring. It was a crowded party - tables were tight and it had very, very long lines for the drinks. There was a full VIP tour group there and the party was sold out.

The desserts were good but I really enjoyed the savory items more.

I did enjoy the storm troopers - I got in trouble with them when I walked up the handicap ramp to take a picture. (there was no one using it at the time). They escorted me down and told me they were keeping an eye on me.

I also loved doing the character meet and greets in the area with virtual no lines - everyone was staying in the dessert party area so the line was extra short.

I must be the only person who doesn't like the area for watching the show. Everyone was sitting on the ground and I can't sit on the ground easily. I did manage to get down so I wouldn't block the people behind me but was in horrible pain from sitting on the ground . And then I could barely get up - a nice gentleman next to me helped me up.
The other 2 times I did this party the viewing area was further back and everyone was standing so it caught me by surprise when the viewing area was moved closer. I prefer the view further back too.

If I ever do this dessert party again, I will need to bring a stadium cushion in with me so I can at least be comfortable once I get on the ground.

Overall it's a nice dessert party but it's not my favorite.
the old viewing area was much better. The show is to wide for the current area to be able to appreciate the show. But considering you don't have to hold a decent spot at all, it's not horrible

I love this dessert party, it's my favourite one. We've done it 3 times. The first was when it was part of the VIP tour, the 2nd was just the dessert party with the old viewing area and the last time was with the new viewing area. I kinda like the new viewing area. I'm not sure whether it was just our night, but it was nowhere near as crowded as the old one. I will agree that the old one was just a little bit further back which made taking in the whole panoramic view a lot easier.

The dessert offerings themselves are always enjoyable for me and I enjoy just being able to sit and relax for a little bit at the end of a long park day. I would do it again and in fact I have it booked for our upcoming trip as well.

We were excited about doing the Star Wars Dessert party until I heard in a podcast that, during the fireworks show, you have to sit on the pavement in the viewing area. Not sure my husband, who has ankle problems, will want to sit on the pavement since he'll have trouble getting back up. Is there an area in the viewing area where you can stand?

You can sit or stand, just be careful that you don't block anyone's view.

Just a thought...you could rent a wheelchair for him to sit in. Not sure if he would have to be in a different area (like a place for people in wheelchairs to watch).

I was told I had to sit down. Even after I told the Cast Member that I would have a problem sitting on the ground and getting back up again thanks to my knee.
I was miserable during the show and the only way I'd be booking this dessert party again would be if my husband wanted it. And I'd be sure to have a stadium cushion with me!

I wish every cast member would be trained to be consistent so we would all know what to expect.

We loved it. It was our first/only dessert party, so we have nothing to compare it to, but we were very happy with it. The private tables were nice to sit down at after a long day of touring. We got a big kick out of the storm troopers that were making their rounds. We got essentially a FP to see Kylo Ren and I thought the food was very good.

My stepdad has back and knee issues and he was surprisingly able to sit for both the Wonderful World of Animation show and the Star Wars fireworks on the back ledge without pain. He used the ledge as leverage to get up again.

We left the party before the Stormtroopers led everyone else out to get a spot dead centre on the back ledge. You could try seeing if you can stand up at the back there instead but you’ll still be blocking the view of people sitting/standing behind the viewing area.

If that happens talk to a Leader. That viewing area was originally intended to be a standing viewing area but when the party was removed as part of the SW tour and was also not selling well, there was enough room for everyone to sit. However on certain nights there isn't. The viewing area is not only for party Guests, it includes those people that took the SW tour and decide to to watch SWaGS. It also may include VIPs. The total number of people varies from night to night and that number dictates whether or not there is enough room for everyone to sit. If not, Guests are asked to stand.

It's not training, it's bad leadership.

If you stand in the back or sides you won't be blocking the view of any dessert party Guest. Any non-party Guest standing close enough to the rear of the viewing where their view is blocked will have to find a different spot. Party Guests are paying big bucks for the party and viewing.

I understand that :rolleyes2 But when we did the party a couple of weeks ago, there were small children sitting on the other side of the ledge that had clearly been waiting there a long time throughout the bad weather and it didn’t feel right to block their view either.

Understandable

We did this on NYE and it was excellent for the view of the firework show - especially on NYE! None of my family found the desserts all that great though. We would not do this again - it was a one time thing mainly due to the NYE crowds.
We are doing this in NYE this year. Were you able to sit down during the show? I've read that at some parties, people sat. Other times, they stood. I'm just concerned that my kids would be able to see.

No, you dont sit during the show. However, the area reserved for party guests was large and so there was space to spread out - making it easier to see. Our kids had no trouble seeing as the show is elevated. my experience was 2 years ago so things may have changed. Have fun!

That's correct, sometimes there is room where Guests are able to sit and sometimes they have to stand, it depends on how many Guests are in the viewing area on any given night. The size of the party and number of VIP Guests does fluctuate. While seating is not provided and space allowing, Guests may sit on the pavement or small raised wall at the rear of the area. For those who prefer to stand, they should do so at rear of the area so that the view of those sitting is not blocked.

We have done this dessert party. My boy’s are huge Star Wars fans. We enjoyed the food and drinks. The storm troopers walking around were neat. The highlight was my boys trading with the Jawas.
