Star Wars Dessert Party details?

What!! and we never crossed paths? How is that even possible?
Yes it is and it is very cool.
You're going back a few years. Most people would not remember that it was a different Frozen dessert party, then it was the original SW party and then it was moved to the Launch Bay.
I've never attended as a guest, but IMO, if it's a nice night weather-wise, there's no better party.
That's correct
The poster may be referring to the FEA dessert party at Epcot.

Right I know that. That’s why I said it.

I’m out. Hope op has a good time.

My family enjoyed the dessert party with our young adult children last May and will be doing it again.

The party has changed somewhat so those two reviews are not current. The price has increased, beer and wine has been added, the viewing area is at a different location, guests are now escorted out in time to watch Movie Magic and the souvenir gift has changed several times.

When did the viewing location move? I've seen some reference to it on the mega thread, but can't figure out where it is in reference to where we stood last May.

Apparently now you stand on the raised platform where the sorcerer's hat used to be.

Yes. The appeal for that one is that it includes seating and a fast pass.

But the food looks very limited at the Frozen party.

I highly recommend the Star Wars party. My family of four loved it so much they all want to do it again this summer. My DS14 cannot stop talking about the frozen Nutella ice cream. He wants to return just for that!

My DH was impressed with the savory foods offered. We were able to have a 2pm lunch at Mama Melrose that held us over to the party. I also have to say, the bartender was amazing! He was telling everyone to take our drinks out to the fireworks in coffee cups! He was hilarious.

We've done the wishes Party and have to say Star Wars blew it away. The buffet is so extensive. It's well worth it. Oh, and they do have Mickey ice cream bars upon request. My little guy ate 4 of them (some were cracked and fell apart but that all he ate).

Here's a great review:

I recently ranked things for someone else, (prefacing that I haven't done the F! party, as we I'm not a fan of F!)

I don't think 1 party is a winner over the others and really, what you put as a higher priority would be the one I would pick to do

This is the menu for the frozen dessert party

The bountiful dessert buffet features sweet and savory options, which may include:

  • Kristoff's Kransekake Almond Cookie
  • Wandering Oaken's Eclairons
  • Hans' Key Lime Tarts with Orange Glitter Glaze
  • Troll Rock Crispy Bon Bons
  • Elsa's Blue Velvet Cupcakes
  • Kristoff's No Sugar Added Lemon Curd with Blueberry
  • Freeze Fried Salted Caramel Popcorn
  • Olaf's Warm Double Chocolate S'mores Pudding Cake
  • Anna's Warm Cottage Pudding with Salted Caramel Glaze
  • Hand Dipped Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
  • Sven's Fresh Fruits with Berries
  • Grand Pabbie's Mystical Winter Spiced Snack Mix
  • Duke of Weselton's Cheese Fondue—served with country bread cubes, broccoli, and grilled flatbread

The menu doesn't interest anyone in my family. At the SW party, we enjoyed the hummus, flatbread, olives etc.. My kids like the ice cream selections at SW too. I would say it's a personal preference.

It's not really a party, it's a "Dessert & VIP Viewing Experience". Unlike the other parties there is no party area. Guests pick up their food & drinks and other goodies and head over to a reserved seating area. That's why there is big difference in price.

Thanks for this. We have done HEA before but never SW or Frozen, and have plans to do both, back to back, in a couple weeks. I wasn't expecting anything great, but I am a little surprised that you rank Frozen behind HEA in the food category, I disliked all the foods at HEA (and when it was Wishes) so I guess my plan to mostly drink will have to stand. I am still excited though, especially since we had to cancel our scheduled Frozen party that we were supposed to do for our marathon trip because DH got sick and was quarantined in the room.

Yeah, mostly I did it based on the # of items we liked at each event.
There are more items we like at HEA than at Frozen. Basically, that's it. So it's possible you'll like the options at Frozen more
Though I will say, everyone should go to Frozen one just to try the frozen pop corn. That is amazing stuff. It's a shame the only place to get it is at the event. It's cool (literally and figuratively)

Got it. I am still super excited and will probably really enjoy it even if I don't like any of the food. I am not really a sweets person, so I think I am probably just really picky about desserts. I am very excited about the frozen pop corn, I was really bummed when we had to cancel in January, but was very happy that I was able to get two spots for the event when we are going to be there in a couple weeks!

I didn't care for the food either at Wishes. Don't know why I bothered to attend it a second time during a Halloween party. Although, the food was cuter, it wasn't anything special. considering the location, I wish they would improve the menu.

Bummer that the location has moved from the April 2017 review. They said it was a near perfect location. I’ve heard the new location isn’t as good. I’m not familiar enough with the park to really visualize where the various viewing locations are.

It was a one and done for us last August. Was okay, not worth the price, IMO. Food was just okay and none of my dessert loving kids ate much at all. I was not impressed with the location, thought we had better views in the past without the party. We also had a lot of tall people standing around the front and it was really difficult to see the show for my short self, and my 3 kids. Basically, I booked it for both the view and the food. Without a good view, the food alone is not worth it to us. My kids did really enjoy the popcorn bucket and waters that they handed out as you went to the fireworks. :-)

For what it's worth at this point, the SW Desert PArty is great and while you don't have to stay in the party area the entire time, you will probably want to. It goes by kind of quick.

Who knew that water would be a hit.

Based on the advertised start time, it's only 55 minutes long. If you arrive early, add 15 minutes on to that.

That does sound better. We aren’t huge SW fans though. I would have to admit to going for the food and drinks! :o

One question: neither of these allow me to use a Disney gift card. If I call can I pay for the dessert party with a gift card? Thanks!

We were there just for the food! :rotfl2:

My little guy is the only one Star Wars fan in the family. He enjoyed walking around the party and interacting with the stormtroopers and jawas.

What sold the party for us, was how the day came together. We had a 2pm Mama Melrose Pixar dinner package. We ate, saw the Pixar Show then went to the SW party - it all just alined.
