Star Wars Dessert Party details?

I have a fastpass scheduled for 8:00pm-9:00pm for HS one day on our upcoming vacay. I would like to see about doing this dessert party, but I would miss my FP if so.

The time for the dessert party is 7:30p. Are you in the party area for the whole time from then until after the fireworks show? Could someone who has done it please tell me all the details, and if you think the dessert party is worth it. It sounds pretty neat.

(Also, our FP is for Star Tours, and as DLR passholders, this won't be any biggie for us to miss).

I am interested also! Any help would be much appreciated.

Well, you aren't held captive by Kylo Ren or anything ;)
You do have freedom to come and go from the party area as you see fit.
But, if you do that, you miss time to eat/drink. So only you can determine if you want to miss out on eating/drinking time, or not.
We never opt to do anything else during a Dessert party. We pay for the drinks (most of all in our case) and desserts. So we want time to partake of them.
You go from the dessert party to fireworks viewing area. Where again, you are allowed to come and go as you wish. They let you in/out when you show your party credentials.

Can you not move that FP to an earlier time? That should be an easy one to move.

I agree with PP, maybe just try to move the FP+? Even if you can't, unless you are going during a super busy season, Star Tours generally doesn't have a long standby time.

We did the party in December. It was ok. The desserts were good (love the Vadar cupcake), loved the Stormtroopers walking through and the viewing area is nice. We were able to sit on a back wall the entire time to see the show. In fact, everyone in the viewing area sat for the whole thing. The Movie Magic show was before Star Wars, so we got to see that as well which was a little bonus. My biggest complaints are, there is no seating at the party and after a while, most people were either sitting on the floor or on the stairs just waiting to be escorted to the viewing area. You are also so close to the show that the sound is a little distorted and you miss one very cool effect at the end. We've also seen it without the party and the wait wasn't bad, however, if you have kids or if you are on the short side (I'm 5'2"), the viewing can be a bit difficult from the general viewing areas unless you are close to the front.

Thanks for the replies. I'll look into moving the fastpass. Do you think the dessert party is worth it. We are two middle aged adults. I was going to be bringing my 20-something adult sons, but we're not after all. Actually, I was looking forward to the drinks. But overall, do you think it is a worthwhile experience. We've been to WDW once, but it was a short, rushed experience, so this is really our first time for all intents and purposes.

There is a large thread about the party, with lots of pictures. We have it booked.

I do. We've done the Star Wars party about 4, 5 times. It's probably my favorite of all the parties, despite the fact that they don't offer seats. I really like the desserts and the drinks. I get my monies worth from them for certain.

I tried doing a search. I'll look further. Maybe I was looking in the wrong forum. I searched in this one...

Thank you,

i like this party. we have done it. we have also done the frozen one before it was star wars. that was good too.

OK, so I'm looking at the Frozen one too...no dates are clickable after 2/28. Does that mean it hasn't opened up yet for reservation?

What!! and we never crossed paths? How is that even possible?
Last I heard, the new gift was a captain Phasma stein, which looked very cool.
Yes it is and it is very cool.

You're going back a few years. Most people would not remember that it was a different Frozen dessert party, then it was the original SW party and then it was moved to the Launch Bay.

I've never attended as a guest, but IMO, if it's a nice night weather-wise, there's no better party.

That's correct

The party has changed somewhat so those two reviews are not current. The price has increased, beer and wine has been added, the viewing area is at a different location, guests are now escorted out in time to watch Movie Magic and the souvenir gift has changed several times.
Bummer that the location has moved from the April 2017 review. They said it was a near perfect location. I’ve heard the new location isn’t as good. I’m not familiar enough with the park to really visualize where the various viewing locations are.

That's correct, it was as good as it could be and the new location has it's issues. I suspect that DHS management changed it in order to make more room for day guests, which is understandable. The front of the new location is too close to the theater and some of the higher fireworks are not visible from certain locations in the viewing area.

The poster may be referring to the FEA dessert party at Epcot.
