Does anyone know if they're going to do a dinner theme for Star Wars Day? We are going on the April 2 Fantasy sailing this spring.

The general thought is yes, although I have yet to see a menu. I'm sure as the sailings start we'll get feedback. We're on the 1/23 cruise, so not long before I'm able to personally confirm.

Think there's approximately 17 days before those of us on the first sailing will be able to answer that question!! 13 days to embarkation day!

We are on the same one! Looking forward to it.

unfortunately, no one can really answer that. The CM's don't know (or at least the ones on land don't), and Disney is being particularly hush over the whole thing. After the first cruise goes out (or at least comes back), we should get plenty of notice about what's going down. I actually suggested to Disney in the future it would be nice to get some form of feedback even though we know they don't want to ruin the surprise, because it's difficult to plan things like Palo, Remy and Senses when you don't know if you might be missing something you really don't want to.

Heck, the CMs I spoke to when we were on our cruise were under the impression that they were getting rid of Pirate Night and replacing it with Star Wars Night, so the crew hadn't even been informed what was going on as of December 12.

Yeah - I talked to some on my Dec 11th cruise and they had the same confusion. Although we now know they are keeping pirates night (or at least that's what we have been told).

I am curious to see how well it goes down since the CM's don't seem to know the plan yet. How well prepared can they possibly be?

I feel somewhat disappointed - there are a lot of "little" things that Disney could have done that would be really cool. For example, how much time would it have taken someone to make a midship detective around star wars? Knowing Disney, it's really probably replacing a few images, text and printing new flyers. I bet a single person could have done it with no more than a week or two of work.

They could have put the Star Wars Cruise logo on the DCL cruise books. That wouldn't have taken very much work at all.

Oh well... They will get better and more inventive I'm sure as time goes on.

We are on the SWDAS cruise on 1/9 and had the same questions. So we contacted someone at DCL just so we could plan a little more. Here's their response:

There will be a pirate night onboard this sailing in addition to the
Star Wars Day at Sea. Pirate Night will be on Day 3, Monday January
11th. There will be no fireworks and no pirate menu in the restaurants;
however, we will still have the two Pirates in the Caribbean Deck
Parties, other pirate festivities, and character meet and greets in
their pirate attire that evening. The Star Wars Day at Sea will be on
Day 5, Wednesday January 13th. We will have a special deck party that
evening that is Star Wars themed with fireworks. Also, there will be a
special Star Wars themed menu in the restaurants.

I hope that helps!!

Remember to take it all with a grain of salt. if you ask 25 different CM's what is going on, you will get at least 40 different answers. :-)

I hope this is true! Otherwise with the current rotation set up (such as ERAERRA), the 3rd MDR would have pirate menu and the See you real soon menu. So you'd miss out on having the regular MDR menu for the 3rd MDR.

We are sailing in May on a 7 night cruise on the Fantasy. I was just curious if anyone has thoughts as to the possibility they extend Star Wars Day at Sea beyond April?

Probably not. My feeling is that they used the SWDAS to sell some of the dates that don't sell all that well usually. Hence the Western and not Eastern itineraries. If it's a big hit, who knows, though?

Newbie here - We are taking our first Disney cruise this spring. How do you learn your dining rotation in advance?

Thanks!

If you know your itinerary (i.e. Western Caribbean, Itinerary A) - it will generally have the same type of rotation as cruises before it with the same itinerary. There are some unknown rotations at this time, such as the Star Wars cruises, that may have a different rotation. However, you won't know which restaurant you have been assigned on your first night until you board and see it on your key to the world card. You can ask guest services ahead of time, by calling them, to place a request on your reservation, such as, I'd like my first night dining room to be Animator's Palette, and then you can pretty much figure out the rest. They will tell you that it can't be guaranteed, but you have a pretty good chance that they will try to accommodate you. If you're counting on a certain restaurant for a certain night, and you don't receive it when you check in, you can request a change once you board. It's kind of fun on your first cruise to just go with the flow and be surprised - every restaurant is beautiful!

Thank you for the explanation! I'm trying to go with the flow for this one as you recommend. There are just too many details to stress about :)

The only detail you need to stress about is getting there. The rest is easy as pie. Sometimes too much information is too much.
