We are heading to Orlando in late October, and will be going to the Halloween party at MK for the first time. The kids want to do Star Wars costumes. My wife and I would like to join in, but we don't want to wear something that will be uncomfortable all day, like masks, face paint, super hot costumes. And my wife won't wear the "naughty" version of any costume. :goodvibes

Does anyone have any suggestions--looking for something that won't break the bank too.

heruniverse.com has some very cute SW costumes for women and girls.
This Ewok shirt is very cute and was quite popular during SWW:

Your wife could wear this (with leggings or shorts under and a t-shirt under if she wanted): http://www.lightinthebox.com/woman-...?currency=USD&litb_from=paid_adwords_shopping

I bought one for my niece on Ebay and it is ADORABLE!

Or she could be Leia by just wearing a plain white dress, and having her hair in a headband like this: (or making her own out of an old headband and some brown felt - the larger and wackier the 'donuts' the better!) http://www.costumeexpress.com/p/341...EEXPRESS-adType^PLA-device^c-adid^51298616111

You could be Han with just a khaki shirt, brown pants, and a bandolier kind of weapon/ammo holder criss cross over your body (again, could just take a long piece of black strap and use some electrical tape over TP rolls to make the ammo). Maybe have a toy Chewbacca or Millenium Falcon with you?

As a Star Wars costumer and member of the Rebel Legion/501st, I can tell you that there are plenty of cool costumes!

First: watch both the Star Wars movies (yeah, even the prequels) and the Clone wars series AND some of the Rebels previews (they are available to watch on YouTube) See if there is anything that you like or inspires you.

Some quick ideas: Jedi. Their costumes can be made from a very light linen or cotton materiel, and are very comfy. There are also lots of patterns out there for them, and I really would make them yourself. The store bought ones tend to not lay right and are actually hotter than home-made ones. If you don't want to make your own pants (I can make tops, not pants), just get some normal pants - but don't forget tall boots.
If you want to grow out your beard or hair you can even be Obi-Wan quite easily! Every Jedi is a little bit different - it's the saber that makes a Jedi, really.

As for a saber, just hop down to your nearest Home Depot or Lowes and get either some real pipe pieces and nuts/bolts or some pvc pipe (paint it sliver) and you have your hilt! The original movie hilts were graflex camera flashes, but they are VERY hard to get.

Padme: She has a huge collection of costumes to pick from, but my favorites are her nightgown collections. They are blue silk-like and are very cool. She also has loose hair while wearing them. Check the prequels for references.

Princess Leia has lovely costumes - very simple. Although don't forget what Lucas said to her during A New Hope: "there is no underwear in space" :) (I may be screen-accurate, but I'm not that screen-accurate, I'm wearing some underwear! )
Her Endor costumes looks very comfy - the camo costume is easy - grey pants, boots, and a poncho. Worried about how to make a poncho? Easy - make a poncho out of cheap beige or grey fabric. Get some fabric spray paint or normal spray paint in beige, green, light green, and brown. Go to town spraying the heck out of it! You could even be a whole troop of Endor soldiers this way.

Luke's costumes are pretty simple too! You just have to not be intimidated by them. Once you study and dissect the costume, it's not hard.

If you do Han Solo, don't forget 2 things: his "Blood Strips" that go down the sides of his pants, and the fact that he shot first. He ALWAYS shoots first! :)

Now, with the Rebels series, there are so many other options you can even pick from them too!

Also, don't let wigs scare you. I've worn wigs several times in parks and it's not difficult. Look up tutorials on YouTube. There is nothing worse than a badly worn wig to kill your costume.

Check out the 501st and the Rebel boards, they often have tutorials on how to put together costumes.

Personally, I costume as an A-Wing pilot. I wouldn't recommend pilot to you though because there are lots of little things to put together, plus Jedi is such an easy costume to put together.

Good luck with costuming, and may the Force be with you! :)

BTW: October is usually a cool month in Florida.

We are a family of 4 heading to MNSHP on Sept 28. One of our biggest concerns was finding costumes that we wouldn't get super hot in. We decided on a more casual approach.

I will be going as a Storm Trooper wearing a Storm Trooper T-shirt and ball cap.

Can't post links...long time lurker, but first post. Google storm trooper t shirt costume, and storm trooper ball cap.

My son will be in the same get up only Darth Vader.

My Daughter will be in a Leia-esque dress (getting something made) with her hair in the signature buns.

And lastly my wife will be making her own R2-D2 t-shirt to wear.
