We're visiting Disney World for the first time Oct. 1-4 with a Star Wars crazed 6 year old in tow. We had planned to just do AK and Magic Kingdom, but it looks like most Star Wars themed attractions are in Hollywood Studios.

What are the "must sees" for a young star wars fan, and what can we skip? Could we cover it all in a late afternoon/evening trip to Hollywood Studios?

Thanks!

I invite you to join us on the sw thread. Link in my signature. The first page of that thread has everything that dhs has to offer for the sw fan

I'll bet he would love Jedi Training Academy, which you want to sign up for right away. Star Tours is a great ride with random scenes, so multiple rides is always a good idea. Then there is the Launch Bay, which is a neat area with character meets and such. Then, of course, don't miss the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular fireworks show, which I hear is just phenomenal (I haven't seen it yet). It's all at HS, so a stop there seems like a must for you.

I took 5 and 7 year old boys recently...both SW obsessed. The Jedi Training Academy (now called something else), Star Tours, and the meet and greets were the highlights of their entire Disney trip. They also enjoyed making a light saber in the gift shop after the Star Tours ride.

Yes, unquestionably Hollywood Studios is the place you want to go if he's obsessed with Star Wars. He'll find no shortage of Star Wars things to do.

Jedi Training Academy is a must for a young Star Wars fan. To ensure, he gets a spot, it is best to get there early in the morning to sign-up.

I second everything said here. My two boys (6 and 9 y.o.) love Star Wars and we had a blast at Hollywood Studios last March. If you want, you can read my trip report on my blog: here. I went to HS twice on that trip because the kids wanted to experience more Star Wars stuff.

My two six year old boys and my nine year old daughter enjoyed pretty much everything that HS has to offer (just a few weeks ago in June). @yulilin3 's thread is a great resource. We did: Jedi Training, Star Tours (multiple times), Launch Bay, meeting Kylo Ren and Chewbacca, saw the Stormtroopers and Captain Phasma march, built slight sabers, and watched the fireworks with the dessert party. We didn't even see the stage show - timing just never worked out right. So, needless to say, if you have a big SW fan, HS will be a lot of fun. Enjoy!!

My Star Wars crazed DD (10) first did Star Tours at DHS at age 5 before she had even seen a Star Wars movie. She did it because the boys in her kindergarten class liked Star Wars, and she wanted to tell them she did it. She fell in love. Star Tours is in the top 3 of her favorite rides in all the parks. It really is a must do for a Star Wars fan. Also, once DD saw Star Wars, she loved Jedi Training Academy. I know they have an updated version now- so I don't know what that changes and who is fighting, but the chance to actually fight Darth Vader with light sabers was the absolute highlight of the trip where she first did it and made for great pictures. Unless things have changed, the only way to do Jedi Traning Academy is to be there at rope drop (or before) to sign up. If you don't want to do the Star Wars fireworks (which I have heard are great), you could start the day at DHS and then hop in the afternoon to AK since AK is staying open later now.

My boys 7, 6, and 4 absolutely loved HS and all things Star Wars. We were at HS on Memorial Day, so it may have been a bit more crowded than it will be for you, but we were there from rope drop to Star Wars Fireworks and couldn't get all the Star Wars to do list done. We do have a little princess and had to sprinkle in some girl fun. With that being said I found it hard to plan around the park with such a large amount of shows and events. My boys however didn't know what we missed doing and had the best time. Definitely get there early for Jedi Training. We did a 10:40 (I believe) and so glad because some of the afternoon times were cancelled due to storms. We also spent over an hour in line just to build a light saber. My boys loved it but I was about to lose my mind. I would recommend steering clear of that area for sure if you can, its right at the exit of the gift store for Star Tours. Having a Visa Disney card helped with only having to wait to meet Kylo for just a couple minutes compared to the normal line being about 30+. I would recommend focusing only on Star Wars events if you split they day. However, if you split the day you will miss the fireworks or miss being able to sign up early for Jedi training. In my opinion the Fireworks are a must do!
