Disney (NYSE:DIS) CEO Bob Iger says the integration of Star Wars into the company's theme parks will be based on new sequels and spin-offs from the franchise, instead of the older generation of movies.

Not too surprising, the rides to come will focus on the new movies and not the classics...

"There will be a much larger ‘Star Wars’ presence in our parks globally"
"But we want to do this big, which takes time, and to do it right."

Pretty cool.

I wonder which iconic Disney World attractions and shows they're going to eliminate to make room for yet more movie pimping?

Bill From PA

they've already eliminated several (American Idol, Backlot Tour, Sounds Dangerous of course is long gone) but I think it's a toss up as to whether those can be considered "iconic." That car stunt show can go too as far as I am concerned.

And of course they want to plug their own movies.

Probably replace Cinderella's castle with the Jedi Temple as part of the hub redo... :rotfl:

Well of course the new rides will focus on the new movies and not the classics...

It's much easier to make plywood cutouts painted with fluorescent colors when you've got hi-def footage to reference.

Duh.
