i really liked the friendship between kirk and "bones", and how jumpy and paranoid bones was, he was very amusing. i also throught chris pine nailed the kirk attitude and swagger. the relationship between uhura and spock is fascinating, i never would have guessed, lol.

I have been a fan of Star Trek since I was 6 years old and watched TOS episode "Arena" with my older cousins. I have to admit I spent the first few minutes of the latest movie telling my kids "This is all wrong! They are messing with canon. Kirk's dad can't die, what about Sam?, etc., etc." but I got over it and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It will be interesting where they take it.

The cast was fantastic, but for the record, the whole Spock/Uhura thing is still just wrong!

I've heard the same thing. Possibly Nestor Carbonell as Khan.

I also heard there's a teeny possibility that Shatner will have "some" sort of role in this (some sort of recorded message to Spock) but who knows. It will be exciting, I'm sure!

What would you like to see in the sequel I want more of the Kirk,Bones and Spock relationship fleshed out like in the original series and the movies.

I was surprised by the movie because I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. I thought that the characters were quite well done and the story was exciting.

The only thing that troubled me a little was what happened to Vulcan. I don't know why but I didn't like what happened there.

People used to say that only even numbered Star Trek movies were any good but it looks like that's no longer true!

hehe...Also, when young Spock sits in the chair of the spacecraft and it turns on it's own, and he says "Fascinating."

Also loved Chekov trying to get the ships computer to understand him saying "Wictor wictor", and him running through the ship yelling "I can do this I can do this!!" on his way to save Kirk from falling.

Simon Pegg...awesome!

OMG I loved Chekov!!!! He was the kid in Terminator Salvation...you know, Kyle Reese.... Simon Pegg was awesome too. And can I just tell you how much I love Zachary Quinto as Spock? I had never even heard of him until this movie (we don't watch Heroes) but now I want to know everything....and Chris Pine.....again, hadn't heard of him but WOW!!!

That is honestly one of my faves, along with Chekov and his "wictor wictor" LOL

I have to be honest and say that I did not think I was going to like this movie. I was excited to see it but I expected to be disappointed...I was absolutely NOT!!!! DBF and I saw this movie 3 times in the theater and we bought a Blu Ray just for this movie. We LOVE it.....in fact I'm buying him an ITouch for Christmas so he can take this movie everywhere with him. It's a GREAT movie and was so well done and so well cast that I really have no complaints about it. Pretty sure we will be watching it either tonight or tomorrow, after all it's been 2 full weeks since we've seen it.....LOL And yes, we are proud to be Trekkies!

Pine as Kirk - Really good. Although he didn't have the "accent," he did nail a lot of the facial expressions. (particularly when getting beat up.

Quinto as Spock - Nailed it. He couldn't have played it any better. (BTW, for laughs check out funnyordie.com and search on Hostages A Love Story)

Urban as Bones - Nailed it. I have enjoyed Karl Urban since his Xena days. Wasn't sure if he could pull it off. He was great!!

Pegg as Scotty - Nailed it. He wasn't in in enough, but when he was, he played the scenes perfectly.

I didn't think the Spock/Uhuru romance was necessary to the story although I loved the quick banter btw Spock and Kirk when Kirk finally discovered her first name.

Loved the scenes between Kirk and Bones when McCoy was trying to smuggle him on the ship. (giant hands)

I also loved the discussion btw Kirk and Spock when Kirk was offering Nero(?) assistance.

I agree with everything everybody has said on this thread. That movie was practically perfect. Great cast, fully thought out story, and well directed. I was never really a fan of the original Star Trek, loved TNG, but this movie was just fantastic!

One of my favorite scenes was between ZQ Spock and LN Spock when they made fun of Kirk for believing they couldn't know about each other, just because it's the time travel theory that makes the most sense.

I would say the only weakness of the movie was the casting of Eric Bana. I just think he is terrible and really was a dark spot on a terrific film.

Also, I'm a huge fan of Firefly, so it was funny to see the Browncoat reference in the Wiki article.

I couldn't understand what Uhura said her first name was....anyone?

I am not ashamed to say I cried like a baby during the opening scene. I never cry (except during Disney animated films). Trek got me.

Uhura's first name is Nyota, altho originally Roddenberry did not give her a first name, I believe that Nyota was the name Nichelle Nichols & Gene Roddenberry did agree on eventually for her character.
At least that is my knowledge of the characters name, which admittedly isn't spot on.
