Star Tours: Spoiler Alert

Last summer we rode 8 times and saw every scene except for one. I forget what it was.

The problem is that ST is not randomly random. It is only semi-randomly random. It randomly changes things in a random way, but it seems unrandom to some.

If you sit in the front row, however, you can achieve complete randomness. Each row further back has different levels of randomness. Since CM's can assign you to any row at random, that makes the whole ride random. But if you request a particular row then that takes the randmoness out of it and it becomes semi-random.

At least that is what I heard...:rolleyes1

Ahhhhhh...I get it now. Thanks HydroGuy for clearing that up. :rotfl:

That was the most random thing I think I've ever seen you post.

We rode 6 times and had wookie planet at least 3 times. 2 different openings which was nice. I remember the bounty hunter. We were in the scene with the snow. Have yet to do the underwater one...which I also heard was amazing.

Which one is the Hoth? My brain is drawing a blank.

Hoth is the snow planet, we get that one a lot! lol I've only got the pod race once or twice, same with Naboo and the Wookie planet. I am so excited to ride this ride, it's easily one of my faves now!

We'd be happy never seeing another Wookie! 2/3 of our rides had the Wookie (4/6). Statistically is should be 1/3, right or are there 2 chances on each ride to get the Wookies?

Maybe that means no Wookies on our next trip!

Of the 5 times we rode, we saw thw Wookie planet 3 times, encountered Bobba Fett twice, received 4 transmissions from Admiral Akbar, and one from Yoda, were stopped 3 times by Darth Vader at the beginning, twice by storm troopers and a suction droid, went to the underwater planet once, went to 3 different combat zones, went to Hoth, participated in pod races once, experienced 3 different endings, etc. When you start to mix all of those combinations and small changes, it adds up to way more than 11 possible overall experiences each time.

We would be happy to not seeing the wookie planet again. But, if we did, at least we are at Disney!!

Right. As explained in previous posts, when you take these 11 different video segments and combine them in all the different ways possible, that makes for 54 combinations. As others have chosen to point out, the selection of the rebel spy adds a random element to each experience as well.

Agree with you.

But the adding of the rebel spy does not equal OP's number of 456 possible scenarios. The rebel spy aspect would be an indefinite number and WAY more than 456.

So we still don't have an explanation for the '456' other than we all know a lot of CM's talk of things they know little or nothing of - and some CM's have admitted (on other forums) that they have 'fun' giving misleading info. to guests. Not sure why anyone would take this seriously in the face of facts.

If the Imagineers added a couple of "secret" scenes, scenes that only play like once a week or something, something with Darth Maul, or perhaps pieces of the original ride, get caught in the Tie Figher, Falcon fight from A New Hope, there could be all sorts of possibilities.

If they had done something like that, I'm sure someone on the disboards would have encountered that already.

Last summer we talked about the chance of seeing different scenes. It seemed that certain one came up for often than others. I think they don't all have the same chance of coming up. Maybe the percentages even change from week or week or month to month. I think it must have been the podrace scene I didn't see. I don't think they all have the same chance of being shown.
