Star Tours and motion sickness

It makes my husband sick but he ONLY has issues with motion simulator type rides, not coasters etc. He can basically ride anything else at Disney except ST. I took my nephews this summer & they had no issues at all but they don't get motion sick at all to my knowledge.

Same for me. ST and the Simpsons ride will knock me out for at least 3 hours. Roller coasters, no problem.

I went on it about 1 week ago and, even though I have never had any motion sickness issues, I DEFINITELY felt it during Star Tours. I closed my eyes for a small part of it. And, by the way, I was in the back row and it didn't help much.

Nope. The common side effects are dry mouth and if you accidentally touch the patch and then touch your eye (get any residue from it in your eye) it can cause blurry near-vision which is why I prevent that by placing a band aid over it.
You don't have to touch it to get the blurry vision. Mine starts about 36 hours into wearing one. I have had it twice and won't use them anymore because it is so bad.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to get the residue in your eye. It often gets transferred from the pillow to your face while sleeping. Since placing the round band aid over the patch I haven't had any issues with blurry near vision. However, the blurry vision when it happened was no big deal IMO in comparison to the violent nausea and ruined days from the motion sickness. But to each there own (my sister won't wear it...it makes her drowsy.). Whatever works for you is the way to go!

The blurry vision I had was debilitating. I couldn't see to function. Dr said it was not from transfer. My system reacted poorly to the scop patch.

I take Dramamine every morning of my trip because sometimes even the bus ride to the park can make me sick. I tried star tours once and had to close my eyes about 30 seconds into it.

I did the same thing Gina did. I tried opening my eyes every so often but it was just to much.

This ride seems far too similar to the old Body Wars ride for me to even consider riding it, but my kids are big Star Wars fans so I'm wondering how kids seem to tolerate it in general. 2 out of 3 of them will occasionally get car sick or get sick on the plane, but (knock on wood) so far they haven't had an issue with rides. My oldest has done Everest, RnR, and Splash and they've all done rides like BTMRR, 7DMT, Test Track, Barnstormer, Kali, and Dinosaur without complaining about feeling sick.

The motion simulators are the absolute worst for me, so this one makes me nervous for kids who do at times get motion sickness. Body Wars in particular messed me up for hours. Just wondering how other kids have fared on this one, particularly if they have had some car sickness or other motion sickness in the past.

TIA!

I have issues on this ride if

a. Don't sit in the middle to left hand side (if you're facing the screen)
b. Don't sit in the 2-5 row

If I sit in the very front row or to the right of the middle in any row I get very motion sick. So I found the 2-5th row on the very left hand seat works very well for me.

Alternatively in Soarin', I have to sit front and middle to not barf.

Thanks for the replies. The kids rode it last week with DH and nobody had any issues from it. They loved it. DH said it was a really good thing I didn't ride though because it was extremely hot and that only makes my motion sickness 10x worse.
