Star Tours and motion sickness

This ride seems far too similar to the old Body Wars ride for me to even consider riding it, but my kids are big Star Wars fans so I'm wondering how kids seem to tolerate it in general. 2 out of 3 of them will occasionally get car sick or get sick on the plane, but (knock on wood) so far they haven't had an issue with rides. My oldest has done Everest, RnR, and Splash and they've all done rides like BTMRR, 7DMT, Test Track, Barnstormer, Kali, and Dinosaur without complaining about feeling sick.

The motion simulators are the absolute worst for me, so this one makes me nervous for kids who do at times get motion sickness. Body Wars in particular messed me up for hours. Just wondering how other kids have fared on this one, particularly if they have had some car sickness or other motion sickness in the past.

TIA!

It makes my husband sick but he ONLY has issues with motion simulator type rides, not coasters etc. He can basically ride anything else at Disney except ST. I took my nephews this summer & they had no issues at all but they don't get motion sick at all to my knowledge.

I don't get sick on any roller coaster, RnRC tends to give me a headache but that because of the extreme neck pull. I don't ride Star Tours or Mission Space because they make me sicker than a dog. I'm an avid scuba diver and can ride a small dive boat with 5 foot seas and not get sick but put me on motion simulator rides and that's all she wrote. I think it really depends on the person. My son used to be able to ride the worst roller coaster with no problems, he can't any more but just because he has permanent nerve damage in his spinal cord. He has never been able to ride motion simulators either, for him it's a combination of the motion and being confined in a small space.

I'll ask what your kids were doing in the car or the plane when they got sick. For example, I never got car sick on my many vacations with my family when I was just watching the scenery but if I opened a book, that was it for me.

Now, as far as Body Wars was concerned, that one killed me and I don't know why but I just put my feet up on the back (not that it bothered the person in front of me) on the seat in front of me and I was fine. I figured it was because I am short (just barely make 5 feet) and my feet were just swinging around most of the time. Gave me a sense of actually floating through the vessels. But, I've never had a problem with Star Tours and I don't think your kids will either. If they can do Dinosaur, they can do Star Tours.

They weren't doing anything any of the times I can remember. My oldest has occasional read in the car with no problem, which I warned him against because he's one of my kids who has been carsick. The only thing I think I can make as a connection is that I think it has mostly happened when their bellies were full. So I try to space out their food if we are on the plane now or traveling in the car for a while and not do a big meal before driving anywhere. At least twice they were sleeping when they started gagging and woke up getting sick.

The car sickness is mostly a mystery though. We actually made the 18 hour drive to and from Orlando once without any issue but a week prior one got sick on the 20 minute drive to the mall.

Lol, this ride makes me SO sick!! Even with a motion sickness patch on! I just close my eyes and breathe deeply...I have never even seen the whole ride!! I usually have to shut them after we discover who will be the Rebel Spy!! All my kids do ok...even the ones who got car sick when they were young. They spend most of the time staring at me to see if I'm going to hurl!!

I can't read a book while riding in a car for more than 5 minutes before I start to feel ill and I've even gotten a little woozy on an aircraft carrier, but for some reason Star Tours did nothing to me. I think, most likely, it's because it really doesn't last that long.

I take Dramamine every morning of my trip because sometimes even the bus ride to the park can make me sick. I tried star tours once and had to close my eyes about 30 seconds into it.

I don't get motion sick on anything, but this motion simulator - every time. Throws me for a loop - not during the ride so much, but as soon as I step out, I am in trouble and have to sit for a while for my equilibrium to come back. So weird - other motion simulators don't do it - just this one. But I love the ride so much! argh....

I don't get motion sickness from literally anything, but for some reason when I went on the new Star Tours this last august I felt gross afterwards! However, we had just eaten so I would blame it on that. My dad has been known to throw up just by watching the teacups (not even riding them!), but he loves Star Wars so much that he has never missed that ride. He doesn't feel the best after it but has never thrown up, and rates it a 6 out of 10 on his infamous nausea scale. Not too bad, he's a high rater!

Is it a short ride then? If so, I may be more likely to have them all go on it. For some reason I had it in my head this was a long one.

I have a problem with motion sickness. I can't read in a car. I sometimes get sick in planes. I have no problem with Dinosauer or rollar coasters. I have problems with simulators. I can do Star Tours once. I feel a little off afterwards but it quickly passes.

Years ago I rode ST 3 times in a row. I was so sick I couldn't even make it as far as the gift shop. Since they have benches right outside the ride chambers, I suspect I'm not the only one who was too sick to walk any farther.

I went on ST as a kid and hated it. I don't remember if it made me feel sick but I think it did. I have not gone on it again. I have issues in Sorin too. If I am in the front row and can see the ceiling I am fine. I just look up. I also have an issue with the Canada and France's movie at EPCOT. I do not get motion sickness. Neither of my kids get motion sickness and are fine on this rides.

The ride is about 7 minutes long.

I really suffer from motion sickness, but the thing about simulators for me is that if I close my eyes I'm fine. My eyes are closed for a lot of this ride, but I still like it...but I don't recommend repeating it immidiatly, that's how my husband ended up on the "benches of shame" at the exit of the ride ;) there are water coolers right there, very convenient.

I get car and seasick (but not sick on airplanes). I can't read in cars at all. I do fine on roller coasters, but motion-simulator type rides just do me in. I do OK on Soarin, but I think it's because there are no sudden movements. Mission Space (green side) makes me feel not so good, and I rode Star Tours exactly one time. I was miserable for awhile afterwards. If you have motion sickness issues at all, I don't recommend riding it.

Just about everything makes me motion sick these days. Star Tours is no exception. So now I use the Transdermal Scopolamine patch that my doctor prescribes for every trip. Tiny little patch goes behind your ear (I then cover it with a round band aid to prevent touching it). It last 3 days, then I change for a new one. I can ride everything except Forbidden Journey at Islands of Adventure with no problem now. I've tried everything else. OTC meds (dramamine, meclizine, bonine), sea-bands, motion-eaze oil, ginger gum/pills...none of that stuff works for me. It's the patch all the way!

ST does not bother me. I don't get air sick or car sick. I do get sea sick. If you can take those other rides I would suggest give ST a try. All you have to do is to close your eyes or look away from the screen and at something in the room if you start to feel sick. The physical motion is not that intense. Certainly no worse than Dinosaur.

My son will occasionally get car sick, but has a never had an issue on any ride. We'll often ride Star Tours a few times in a row & it's no problem for him at all.

I myself have extreme motion sickness. So, for me to ride, I have to take Dramamine beforehand.

Does the patch make you sleepy? All of the Dramamine type drugs knock me out
