I'm debating if I should take my 5.5 year old daughter on Star Tours. Assuming she likes rides like barnstormer and splash mountain, should we give it a try? Anybody have experiences with their kids either loving or hating it around that age? Thanks.

My son went on it for the first time at 3 yrs old ~ LOVED IT!
He is now almost 15 yrs old and still loves it :)

Go for it!

My son loved it by that age, but he rode everything there as soon as he was tall enough to ride it...which meant that by not quite five he was already loving Tower of Terror. I really can't imagine anybody getting scared on Star Tours, though.

Its not at all scary, its a fun simulated flight. My kids were 4 when they first rode it and last trip, yds went on it 7 times. Like pp, my kids were 4 on ToT.

Last time we took my daughter who had just turned 4. She didn't like it. She rode it a second time and still didn't like it. I think it was Darth Vader that did it for her. The bumpy ride wasn't the problem. I certainly would take my 5 year old on it - in fact, DD will be 6 next time and she plans to give it another try.

My husband took our 5 year old daughter on it last year and she loved it! Of course she also loves barnstormer, thunder mountain railroad, etc. She even rode tower of terror, but she didn't like that one.

I've taken my daughter on it three times on three separate trips over about a year (age 4-5). She loves roller coasters and the Sea World simulator rides, but she was not as keen about Star Tours. 3/3 times, Darth Vader used "the force" and tried to capture our shuttle on take-off. 2/3 times, we found ourselves flying through a fierce battle over Coruscant. When we landed, I always asked her if she wanted to ride again and her answer was always "NO!" The villains and the battles were a bit too intense for her to appreciate the fun parts of her ride experiences, like the Princess Leia hologram or Chewbacca sliding down the windshield.

In the year since our last trip, DD is becoming much more engaged in the Star Wars universe, and is now more curious and less afraid of the villainous characters. Maybe she will marathon-ride it with me on our next trip... It's one of my favorite attractions.

The ride itself isn't too intense; I think it's a question of whether your daughter likes Star Wars. If so, big thumbs up! If she's never seen it, she may not get much out of the ride and may in fact be frightened by Darth Vader.

My seven year old who refuses to ride Barnstormer has been riding Star Tours since he was four happily. Pretty much anything else with a height requirement is out for him, but Star Tours is fine.

On my dd's first trip she was 3.5 and we almost rode everything with the exception of two or three rides that she wasn't tall enough for (EE, RNRC and Primeval Whirl). We did TOT, Star Tours, Splash, BTMR, Kali, Dinosaur, etc. many times and she loved all of them. I would let your dd decide for herself what she wants to ride and go from there. If say Splash scares her, then before riding another "bigger" ride explain what the ride is going to do and what to expect and so on and take it from there. My dd is now 5 and she can't wait to do EE....she would have done it at 3.5 if she had been tall enough

If your child can handle the intense action scenes/sound FX in the movies (EG One of the possible sequences is chasing Boba Fett's ship as he throws sonic charges at you like in Episode 2) and doesn't have a problem with motion rides in general than he should be fine.

I'd say he'll probably love it.

My older parents on the other hand we'll never ride it again. :rotfl: (It's a Small World is about as "exciting" as they wanna go!)
