Star Jones getting divorced

Jones married investment banker Al Reynolds on November 13, 2004. The much-publicized wedding was held at Saint Bartholomew's Church in New York City in front of 500 guests, and featured three matrons of honor, 12 bridesmaids, two junior bridesmaids, three best men, 12 groomsmen, three junior groomsmen, six footmen, four ring bearers and four flower girls. More than 30 corporate "sponsors" donated wedding attire and merchandise for the event, in exchange for mentions in the media and on Jones' website.

Women's Entertainment named Jones Reynolds the top bridezilla of 2004.

In 2006, she was a guest on Bob and the Showgram on WDCG 105.1 FM in Raleigh, North Carolina, and when asked about her gastric bypass surgery, she denied having the surgery.

However, in a September 2007 interview in Glamour magazine, she revealed she had gastric bypass surgery in August 2003, resulting in a loss of 160 pounds over three years.

Three years after her marriage to banker Al Reynolds, Jones filed divorce papers March 26, 2008 in New York Supreme Court in Manhattan.

Wow, it seems things just are not going well for STARLET!!!

Plus her court show got cancelled. I just think she is awful. And I might add that she was supportive of OJ Simpson during his trial where she earned her fame covering the court proceedings. YUCK.

Al Reynolds looks more like Al B. Sure and what's up with that Dracula necklace he wore on his wedding day? :confused3

It was a medal that his father won, forget what for. I thought it was really a strange thing to wear.

I am only surprised because she talked so openly about her faith and how that would help her marriage last. Guess someone else let her down too.

I have friends who hang out in the hamptons and swear that the husband is openly gay. (and my friends are gay) Not that this is a bad thing, but everyone there was saying that it was an arrangement and nothing more. Didn't he marry her when she was heavy and she made a ton of money off her "sponsored" wedding? Can't remember.
He always has been. That's what made her declarations that the whole gay thing was just an ugly rumor (even though there were pictures of him "out" and about for years -- the man had a very public track record) so annoying. She got very self righteous about how people were just jealous and hateful and spiteful when ... come ON.
I have friends who knew him for YEARS and they know him as BIG GAY AL... :confused3 That was his name on the streets! They were  when they found out he was marrying Star... I actually felt sorry for her... for a minute. She began turning people away just to prove THEM wrong. I guess it's time she opened her eyes. It's pathetic.
Well I feel Perez summed it up perfectly,,,,"Well there goes B.G.A's meal ticket" ;)

I think the whole thing is very sad. Nobody knows what's really going on except Star and Al. I'm sure he probably is gay, but maybe she was so in love with him, that she couldn't, or didn't want to see it. Love is blind. Anyone who has ever been made to feel a fool of themselves because they fell in love (or thought they were in love) with the wrong person would know this. I guess everyone else posting on this thread has never fallen for the wrong person or had the wool pulled over their eyes...There are so many people who pass judgement on others for their choices, but really they are the only ones who have to live with the consequences of those choices.
If this guy pulled the wool over her eyes from the beginning, I imagine she must be feeling pretty hurt and foolish by now. I think most everyone except for her knew or suspected that she was just his meal ticket. I mean let's face it, at her size before the surgery and with her busy schedule, her dating/marriage prospects were probably slim to none. In fact IIRC, she used to talk about how she wasn't interested in having a long term relationship with anyone before she met Al. I think she was easy prey and he took advantage of it.
I think it's great for her that she lost all that weight no matter how she did it. It's not anyone's business how she lost the weight. She looks great and she is in far better physical health right now because she's not lugging around the extra 170lbs, and at the end of the day, isn't that all that matters? :flower3:
As far as the sponsoring of her wedding, it's quite common for celebrities to have a lot of their clothes, special occasions and everything associated with their occasions paid for by corporate sponsors. It's product placement. You all didn't think all those Celebrity In Style Weddings or clothes/jewels worn on the red carpet, tv shows and movies, were paid for by the celebrities, did you? :confused3 If you see the name of the manufacturer or retailer in print, or hear it on ET or any other celebrity/gossip magazine, TV shows, etc., it's because the celebrity is endorsing their product; so in exchange, they get the item for free. The manufacturers do this because they know that the masses are influenced by this, and will go out and buy what they are selling if the stars are wearing/using their product. Star is not the first celebrity to talk about or utilize corporate sponsorship. She may be the first to openly solicit them on national TV :teeth:, but she isn't the first utilize it and won't be the last.:flower3:

:scared1: You can't be serious!!! That would really surprise me. He is so much younger than her, too!!

(I also thought he was married/in a serious relationship with his highschool/college sweetheart and they have a little baby together???)
He was married back when he was at Marquette, but they're separated now.

Here's where I got the Jones-Wade info (warning, raunchy site!):

http://www.mediatakeout.com/22994/new_couple_alert_star_jones_and_dwayne_wade_of_the_miami_heat.html

April 18, 2008. This is the wackiest couple ever. MediaTakeOut.com is hearing (from COMPLETELY RELIABLE sources) that Star Jones is now dating NBA's Dwayne Wade.

According to a person affiliated with the Miami Heat organization, Star Jones has been picking up Dwayne after most of their recent home games. The insider told MediaTakeOut.com, "[Dwayne's] teammates are even joking around with him about it. They say he has to watch his back - cause Al's gonna get him."

Star Jones recently separated from her husband Al Reynolds. Similarly Dwayne and his wife Siobhan have been separated for close to a year.

Product placement is always an option with celebrity but even Star Jones admits she went way, way over the top. But I agree, you live and learn.

As for her not knowing he was gay? Come on. She is a sophisticated, intelligent, savvy (media deals?) lawyer. Either she knew and accepted it or hoped he would change. Most likely the later. Not the first girl to hope her gay or bi boyfriend would change. I am sorry it did not work out for her.

I don't ever wish ill will on anyone. The weight loss is spectacular! Anyone brave enough to get surgery and stick with a new lifestyle to maintain it is awesome! What bothered me (I know...judgement) was her misleading people about it. I can remember her on an interview saying that she lost the weight by eating two slices of bacon instead of four. Yea, right. Why not be honest and open or at least not deny the surgery. She only came clean when she needed publicity towards the end of her View gig. Self serving.

And the OJ Simpson thing.....no excuse...ever. But I am a women's advocate and social worker who works with domestic violence victims so I'm not objective.:goodvibes

MISLEADING people....no how about out and out LYING to people. I remember watching her years ago when she got engaged and was so excited (as was everyone) that she had a "challenge" for all the women in her family to see who could lose the MOST weight before HER wedding. Well her family jumped on board (by family I mean all the ladies, her mom, sisters, aunts, cousins etc). So for days, weeks, months leading up to the wedding we heard PROGRESS reports on how everyone was doing with their losses. :sad2: SO much for MISLEADING us. Because Star goes and has gastric bypass....come on....:sad2: Oh and IMHO, I think she looks better heavier! ::yes::

Hey, I was being nice. Misleading sounded so much gentler than LYING! HA!:rotfl2: I totally agree with you. Two slices of bacon instead of four....yea.:sad2:

Boy, some people will do anything to keep their name and face in public. Her 15 minutes was over so long ago.

ITA! I think the funniest thing ever was that she practically held a press conference to talk about her divorce and the whole time she kept saying how she wishes she would have kept the intimate details of her life private. Well, step away from the microphone, sister. That would be a start.

I have to admit I'm surprised. It seemed like she waited until she was sure she found the right man. I had no idea he's like 8 years younger than she is!

And her real name is Starlet. Cute!

Were you really surprised?? I am very "out of the loop" on these pop culture things and even I had heard he was gay since the time of their wedding. I guess she could have been in denial. Anyone remember Terry McMillan, the woman who wrote "How Stella Got her Groove Back" ? She also married a younger guy who was gay. I felt bad for her, I think she was used. Star Jones, not so much.

I also don't think Starlet is "cute" for an adult professional woman. :)

Im not surprised. I thought it was a sham marriage from the beginning, seeing as how if that man isn't gay, no one is. Not that there is anything wrong with being gay, but it usually doesn't spell success for a heterosexual union.

Did Al Reynolds come out?

Did Al Reynolds come out?

He wasn't IN until the day they announced their engagement. He was about as "out" as you can get during his adult life prior to the hookup with Star.

, Ya, I know you were!!! Star just irks the heck out of me. She had this real attitude on the View and I noticed it more when she started dating Al. Kinda like no one will have a guy better than Al nor will anyone have a wedding has lavish as mine.

Wasn't there some issues with the View ladies attending the wedding....didn't we all read and hear that Star put them up in the balcony of the church??? They were all upset that they did not rate a pew with all the other guests in the nave (the main body of the church, where the members of the congregation are seated) of the church. ::yes::
