STAPLES said "NO" to Water Delivery

I agree with you Feralpeg. I see many are also starting to ship their luggage ahead. There are plenty of stores in the area around WDW and there are shopping services that will deliver to the room.

I am surprised Disney has put up with it this long.

Not trying to be a downer, but I am really amazed that Disney is still allowing this. It seems to be very popular. With all of the packages being shipped ahead by guests, think of how much work this is for Disney. They have to check in all this stuff and store it until the guests arrive. I've been in the bell service storage areas and behind the front desk of several resorts. They really don't have that much space. And, it cuts into Disney's profits. Why allow guests to bring in something which will stop them for having to make a purchase? While I certainly don't blame folks for wanting to do this, I think it is just a matter of time before Disney stops allowing it.

I do agree with you. I wouldn't blame Disney nor would I complain if they stopped allowing this. However, I don't mind taking advantage of it while it's available.

We usually go to Winn Dixie and grab a gallon or two...but we do have a rent-a-car.

Just an update for anyone who's interested. I just placed an order through staples online. I had some issues with the address and zip code, but I think I figured that all out. Anyway, the important thing was, I was able to place the order (for Deer Park water that was in stock) and I got the free delivery (for a $13 order, through the Rewards program). That was all this morning on 6/27.

Thanks for the heads up I was having trouble ordering last wk and called this morning and was able to see about placing an order. I am rewards card member but I still had to pay for shipping . My total for shipping and 2 24 cases came to 21.00(its around 50 cents a bottle) and was able to get Nestle pure life, which I like the taste of.

Oh hon, I totally agree with you, it is just that it cracks me up when people complain about the cost. Go to DLR and then complain people. I will always bring/order my own. I HATE Dasani water anyway. Wish they would bring back either Sparkletts or Arrowhead.

If you dont mine what is DLR?:confused3

I totally see your point, but what's WDW going to do about folks who throw a case of bottled water in the trunk of their car and bring it to the resort?

Hi. I don't see them banning this practice because it is very common for people to ship their luggage to the resort. Disney isn't the only place people do that. I guess at some point it would get crazy for them, but I think they're going to keep allowing it (hopefully).

Also, though lots of people on these boards ship things to the resort, most people who stay at Disney do not come on these boards, and they are not so obsessive. So it's not a huge amount of people who would take advantage of that situation either.

I think the pp was talking about the hotels being inconvenienced by people who have things shipped, and by enabling us to do so, they also lose profit. But really, how many people actually do this? I'm sure there are plenty of guests who pay $2 all week long for a bottled water, so I'm sure the Staples water buyers are barely putting a dent into Disney profits, kwim?

And as far as being inconvenienced. The family and I are going to one of the most family friendliest places, and they don't have cribs. I don't expect full-size cribs, but a portacrib would be nice. They fold up, so storage shouldn't be a problem, and the mattress is only 2 inches thick. And no, a pack and play is not the same thing.

And FWIW, I think storing items for guests isn't unreasonable, even if it is a full-size crib, a mini fridge, 3 cases of water, oh, and a printer cartridge :rolleyes1

I've used Staples twice. Once at POFQ and once at POP. At POFQ they delivered it to my room and at POP they had it waiting at the check in desk when I arrive. I ordered 3 cases at POP and 1 of the cases was damaged so the resort refused it. Staples delivered a new case the next day. On my next trip I also want to order a few snacks so I'll probably use gardengrocer.com.

Is it less expensive or free to ship water from Staples for ground delivery?

I'm just wondering, since I was thinking of just buying the brand I wanted and going to UPS myself and shipping it out :confused3

I know I could not buy Poland Springs (my personal fave) in FL. I just could not drink the tap water there, so I would like to bring my own. I don't like the Zephyr Hills brand either or Dasani - I'm not too fussy am I? ;)
Water is very heavy so I'm sure the UPS charge would be high. You should look into gardengrocer.com as they do have the Poland Springs brand.

How did you get free delivery? I thought they ended that several months ago?

My point was, if they don't allow water, or anything, shipped to the resorts before the guests arrive because it takes up space and they lose money, it still won't stop guests from bringing their own water and not buying it at Disney.

You are correct. I was simply pointing out that people ship things, like water, to the resorts because they don't want the hassle of going to purchase it or they don't have access to a car. If they could not ship things ahead, they would buy from Disney. I don't think that Disney is losing a ton of money over this. As others have said, most people don't even realize that they can ship things to be waiting for them when they arrive. I just think it is probably a big pain for Disney. They don't have that much available storage space at the resorts and things such as cases of water are very heavy. There may come a time when they are not willing to deal with it. It is just a guess on my part.

Or they will rent a car and spend even more money off property.:rotfl:

I thought they had ended it as well, because I looked into ordering last week and they would have charged me shipping. For some reason, when I placed my order online yesterday (6/27), it said my shipping was free after I placed 2 cases of water ($13) in my cart. I didn't do anything special, so I'm not sure whether the policy changed again or if something freaky happened.
