Staples penny sale

Well I have certainly started buying the binders, folders, and pencils for my classroom. I like having all of the supplies for the first day of school and not have to worry about the parents shelling out decent money because they can only get to the grocery store or the pharmacy to buy supplies.

Walmart has:

single subject notebooks for .05 each (bought 15 of each color for the different subjects that I teach)

Scissors .60 each
Gluesticks and paste for .25 each
papermate pen .50 for a pack of 8 or 10 (can't remeber, which)

I have almost all of the supplies for the students for next year and I spent about 35.00, still need composition notebooks(waiting for a sale on those soon and that should do it).

just got back from Staples and got 2 of the purells at 1 cent each and bought a few folders and composition books, my total was under $3

Just a heads up...there are 2 different kinds of folders they are offering for a penny. There is the regular 2 pocket folder and then there is the 2 pocket folder with 3 prong fasteners. The ones with the fasteners seem to be a thicker quality paper. So you might want to get those if you are concerned about durablility.

The one subject notebooks will go on sale for around .10 each. So don't get the 6 pack for $1.99!

I am going to hit the sale again today!! LOL...I am taking one of the kids on my caseload that is heading off to college there so she can stock up a little bit. And I am also going to stock up!! LOL

Walmart has Composition notebooks for 50 cents a piece, which isn't a bad price. The 3 pack at Staples was $1.99.

My dd is always laughing about the boards I read, but she wasn't laughing when I told her about the 25 limit she can get as teacher. Being she just finished her first year she now knows how much $$$ comes out of her own pocket for supplies.

I took my dd to Staples yesterday. I have been trying to teach her about the "value of a dollar" and how much things cost. Her total was .04 LOL I won't be using Staples in that lesson again

I did use this as an example on how to WAIT for a sale

My dd(9) had me take her to staples. She bought 3 -1cent folders, 2pk of pencils, 4- 25 cent folders and 2 hand purells total $1.16 plus she had me stand in line to buy 2 more purells so total was 1.18 total saving of $6.71
She's lovin shopping and saving money. She collects coupons for Michales craft store and looks at the Sunday paper. Now if she can only learn the value of how much gas it cost me-lol! She's doesnt like the fact we have to wait to shop until i have other eraand so we do it all in one day

BTW- she wanted me to ask if Staples will have other stuff on sale for
1penny in the weeks to come?

Yes they will have other items each week. I saw that you can go on their website on Friday to get a sneak peak at Sunday's ad.

I am guessing Staples will have pencil cases in sale next (probably not a penny) cas our store has a mountain of boxes of cases in the back of the store.

Sounds like staples has pretty good back to school items - problem is I don't have one near me. We have every other store (office depot, officemax, etc.) but not staples. This is my first year of having to buy school supplies in quite awhile (since my college years). My daughter starts K and I was wondering from you experienced back to school shoppers where are the "best" all around deals IF you don't have a staples near you? Would that be target? Wal-mart? Office Max? TIA - definetly have to look forward to this for the next 20+ years (son doesn't start school for another 4 years).

^^^I'd say probably Walmart with Target close behind. Start checking their circulars every week and plan to get there early the day their sales start to get the best selection!

Went back for more Purell. I sent my dd on one line and myself on the other. I then asked if I can go ahead and purchase two more in a separate transaction and was told yes so I walked out with 6.

I went to Staples and they were out of the Purell. <stamps foot> I did get 4 binders, 10 folders (with the prongs), and 2 packs of pencils, for a total (with tax) of $1.19. I almost bought a labeler that was originally $50 - instant $5 and an additional easy rebate of $25, final cost of $15. I couldn't figure out which labels were the replacements (and thus how much they would cost), so I walked away from that one.

At Walmart, I got the 5 cent notebooks and two boxes of 24 count Crayola crayons for 22 cents each. They were just starting to put out the rest of the items. They were moving out all the summer items and sunscreen and the scanner read "temporarily unavailable," so I'll be back later this week to get (hopefully) marked down sunscreen. I also bought the remaining Crayola Wonder Sprayer refills that were marked down to $1 in the clearance aisle. I got some High School Musical headbands that were marked down for $3, too.

At Target, I got the $2 boxes of crayons. They had a lot of summer items 50-75% off, but I didn't get anything. I got Disney Princess and Cheetah girls games for the Nintendo DS for $7.48 each!! We don't have a DS yet, but we were thinking of getting one to entertain us on the way to DW next time. I'll just return them if we change our mind. (The original price was $30 each.) They weren't by the games though. They were over by the DVDs.

BOY! This saving money sure does get expensive!

A bit , I was looking at the Handy-lines that you get for free with the rebate....they say "retractable & refillable highlighter". Does anyone know how you refill a highlighter??

yes! My oldest son said "even though they have a bottle in the classroom, I could keep this little one in my pencil box just for me". so cute!!
