Staples ad tomorrow has crayola 24 pack crayons $1.00, Pentel RSVP pens 5 pack $1.00,Sharpie 6 pack fat highlighters $1.00, spiral notebooks $1.00, scissors $1.00 and photo paper 4X6 60 pack $1.00 after rebate. School is not out and I will be there buying highlighters and crayons!

That's awesome! I can use it!

Our school is out, but they already gave us our back to school list for next year. I was so glad to see it. Now I can stock up over the summer instead of at the very end.

i believe someone on the board mentioned that walmart has those bins in the center aisles with back to school type stuff, too. they didn't mention paper or notebooks, but i do remember crayola 24 packs for 30 cents...i need to go stock up on those. i always buy a couple dozen for trips, etc.

The price for crayons and notebooks is way high. Don't pay $1 when you'll be able to get them for $25 a box next month.

I was going to say that too. $1 for a box of 24 crayons is NOT a good deal.

Office max usually has crayons, pencils, pens, etc for a penny in August. :thumbsup2

Not the best quailty, but great for a penny :rotfl:

If you are a Walmart shopper, last year they had 5 cent spiral bound notebooks.

I buy at least a box or two of notebooks every year there because the kids, even in kindergarten, need 3 or 4 during the year...and I use them for shopping, planning...my work....plus I have a bag with a couple notebooks and the 20-cent crayons on hand to keep the girls occupied when we're waiting somewhere or in the van.

I might get three boxes because I'm already plum out.

I was in there today and they had the "back to school" bins ready to be filled.

My WalMart does not yet have the back to school bins out and no sales as reported here. I need to stock up on crayons, pens, color pencils etc. Both of my girls are WAYYY into art and we are always out of these things!

These aren't good prices.

Last summer I got the following deals at Target and/or Staples

notebooks 10 for $1.00
The crayons (24 pack of crayola) 25 cents each (a few years ago they were 10 cents a box)
scissors (the good brand) a pack of 2 for 25 cents
composition notebooks (with good paper, not the crappy newsprint type paper) 25 cents each
two pocket folders (with and without prongs) 1 cent each
elmers liquid school glue and glue sticks 10 cents (1 cent each when Staples has their penny sales)
loose leaf paper 25 cents a pack
plastic rulers 1 cent each
box of 24 #2 pencils 10 cents each

I guess it's just me, but I don't think it's a particularly great deal. If you wait for the real Back to School sales in a few weeks (:headache: my DD's last day was yesterday!) you will get a much better deal. Like 25 cents for crayons and 10 cents for notebooks.

ETA: I see that disneyjunkie thinks the same thing, so I'm not alone ;).

I guess IF you needed to have stuff for summer art supplies then it's a good deal for use NOW. I wouldn't stock up for next year's school though. I'll wait until July for that.

I love Crayola crayons and these are Crayola so I am getting a few packages. Scissors are metal not plastic so I am getting those also. I would rather get them now then fight the crowds later.

I love Crayola crayons! I bought some other brand a few years ago for a few cents less than Crayola and they don't color well at all! $1 a box isn't bad, but I'll wait till August to get some for a quarter. :)

Those prices are better than you might see on any old day of the year, but I suspect that in late July /early August we'll still see the good old super-cheap back-to-school specials. With people being more careful with their money these days, I think stores will be competing more heavily for your school supply dollar.

I'll tell you how to avoid the crowds:

Most people will go to Target and Walmart for their back-to-school sales, and those places'll be crowded. Staples and Office Max will match their sales prices -- just go in there and bring the Target /Walmart sales paper.

Wait. You mean to tell me Staples/OfficeMax will ad-match too? Hot dawg!!
