I was brousing the WDW vacation site getting prices on a possible future trip when I got a IM from a WDW CM asking if s/he could assist me or answer any questions.... This has never happened to me before so I'm guessing it's a new feature.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.....
:confused3

That would be really annoying to me . . . . .if I want help I'll ask for it!

(Also don't like when I'm browsing in a store and there are pushy salespeople!)

It has happened to me twice and when I needed it I couldn't find it. It is really strange there seems to be no way to make it come up, it just shows up magically. I really wonder who they are and where they are at....:surfweb:

That happened to me quite a while ago - about 6 months ago actually. I said OK...typed in my question and they said I'd have to call it in. THEY couldn't help me.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

From now on I say "no thanks".

Happened to me while I was trying to book free dining on line. I went and priced it out and was going to close out, cause the free dining did not show and the livechat popped up. The CM was actually able to point me in the right direction.

Somehow... that's just .... creepy!

I think I'd ask them if they had a really good discount rate for the hotel I wanted!!!

I think it's their way of saying "Thank You for spending X thousand $$$with us. How can we help you spend ++++$?":earsboy:

First of all, other sites use this feature. I get it all the time when shopping on Lands' Ends website.

Second of all, don't be so fast to say "no thanks." Last January we had a 12 day trip planned but we were missing the reservation we really wanted for the second night. We had been calling and trying every way we knew to get this worked out, for more than two weeks, with no luck. DH was trying for about the tenth time to find an alternate reservation when that chat window popped up. He decided to explain the situation. The CM asked for his phone number, called him back immediately, and within a few minutes our missing reservation was done! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure if it really is a CM IMing you anyway. I believe that is just an automated program, and if you respond, it forwards your note TO a CM. I don't think they sit around trolling the reservations page watching you! I have also seen this on the Lands' End site. It might be a real person, but I don't think it is when it first pops up.

Ehh - it's a little creepy to me. Very Big Brotherish. Then again I'm one of those people that doesn't like to be approached - if I need help, I'll ask.

I think you are exactly right. My webhosting company has that same type of program and if you go to close the screen, it pops up a fake IM that asks if you need help. If you respond, a live person will take the message, otherwise it is just a computer generated program.

It has been there for a while. Helpful if you need help but I was just looking. But I like to be able when & if I want to talk :)

I've seen it before. It's no bother for me-if I don't want help, I just ignore it.
