I'm tooling out of international gate at Epcot

When I get to the scanner a CM stops me and says I can't leave with that scooter, it is for use in the park only you will have to take it over there and turn it in.

He's thinking it is a Disney scooter.

Then he gets a bright idea and asks me if I rented it from Disney

I ask him what the big sign on the front of the scooter reads.

He reads it out loud. "Buena Vista scooter rental"

He lets me go. My wife is watching me from a distance. She asks me what that was about.

I'm sitting there laughing telling her I was giving a CM on the job training

Aw, I feel for the CM. Sometimes you just have one of those days......you're sure you're being right on the ball, doing your job right, and all of a sudden you discover you're an idiot. Been there, done that.

That should be on a T-Shirt

Ha ha, I know what you mean. I laughed out loud!!!

The CM made a simple mistake, which was corrected, no fuss.................doesn't seem such a big deal that the OP needed to come on here and crow about it.

Just my opinion.

Everyone has bad days. Even CM's. Hopefully you were good natured and did it with a laugh! :-) I'm sure he felt silly no matter how you phrased it.

They do have issues with people leaving (or trying to leave) the parks with park rental scooters and wheelchairs. This could be accidental (I.e. They didn't know the items rented in the park are for that park only) or it could be on purpose (people try to take wheelchairs out so they can have one to use for their dhole stay).

So, especially if the outside rental one looks like the park rental ones, I can see why the CM would stop someone to check it out. Luckily, all the outside rental ones have advertising signs on them., but a CM glancing might not notice.

He probably felt pretty silly afterwards.

I didn't see him making a fuss, manning has a wonderful way with humor that I always look for in his posts and he didn't disappoint!

Ah, he saw a scooter and did not think further...now if he tackled you off it and the two of you wrestled for the key then that is a different story. In reality we see the park scooters all of the time at the contemporary. You would think the guards would stop them but i guess they don't worry about it and feel they will get them back eventually... Personally, i think they should be fitted with an anti-theft device. As you approach the exit it starts to beep and once you cross over the exit threshold it catapults you out of the seat and if you time it correctly...right into the side of a passing monorail.

what was frustrating it took me a good part of two hours to alter the looks of that scooter and almost got caught. hmm I think I got the shade of red wrong. At least I'm still good at fast talking Just think, if I got caught I could have been thrown into jail......FOR LIFE!:rotfl2:

You may not actually be seeing park rental ones at Contemporary.
The company that provides the park rental ones also rent the same model for out of park.

What happens every so often a guest will have a backpack/bag hanging over the back of the scooter/wheelchair and it just needs to be checked.
