Standards at AK

I am thinking of doing one night, standard view, at AK and then switching to WL for the remainder of my trip. The rate changes that Sunday so that's the reason for two separate reservations.

Anyone stayed at AK in a standard lately? I checked out the non-views on Deb's site and they didn't look too bad. I will be arriving after 6 p.m. and am just looking for a nice dinner and a relaxing evening.

I thought it would be a great way to check out the Christmas decorations at AK and maybe have dinner at Jiko's.

Traveling solo, I like the all under one roof resorts. I have visited the AK before for dinner and stayed at WL a few times. They are beautiful!

Any opinions?

I would go for it. If it is just for one night, you could wander around the resort after dinner and sit in the big rocking chairs in the observation areas. Who knows,maybe you'll get a free upgrade to at least pool view which is what we had and also enjoyed. Have fun!

I agree You very well may get a free upgrade depending upon the time of your visit and how booked the resort is. AKL has relatively few standard view rooms in relationship to the total number of rooms so they often will upgrade a guest to pool or savannah. The resort is nice and inviting, a great place to relax ~~ you'll love it.

Make that two agrees. By all means go for it. We stayed in standard view rooms for a whole week and it honestly was not bad. We were in Ostrich Trail and I think even though it is farther from the pool and restaurants it is a much nicer area than Giraffe Trail. Very quiet. The lodge is breathtaking to just stroll through. You'll have a terrific time!

Yes! Go for it. We reserved a standard, and we were given a savannah view without asking. You never know. But even if you end up staying in the standard room, there are many places to view the animals around the lodge. The lobby is very relaxing also. The pool is very nice. It's a beautiful resort.
