:confused3 We are renting points for a stay the week of Thanksgiving. Unfortunately in the middle of the stay (Thanksgiving day) we have to move from a standard to preferred view for one night then back to a standard view. What is the best way to deal with the tranfers as not to lose "fun" time. Will we have to go to the desk and check out store the luggage then check in each time? Will the credit card link transfer each time? Any suggestion? We might take a day off on T-day but would really like to keep the transfers pain free... Thanks

Just curious, did you ask to see if you can be waitlisted for the standard view?

I know that you will lose some points/$ going from pref to std, but it might be worth the hassle. And it's far out enough that the wait list might just come through.

Since you're moving twice unfortunately you will have to check in twice. That means leaving your luggages at the bell desk twice. And on those days you might be homeless form 11am to whenever your new room is ready.

My suggestion is (if you absolutely have to move), on the moving days you get to the front desk as early as possible and check in. That'll give you the best option for early room assignment. You might get lucky and find a room ready. Even if it's not ready, you will be high up on the list for the next available room. They should ask you if you have a number you can be reached when the room is available. Or at least a number where you can call to check. Then go back to your room to get ready for the day.

Since we're DVC member we are usually automatically checked out by 11am and we don't need to go to the front desk for it. But since you're moving, I would probably check out (just to make sure) when you are leaving your luggages by the bell services.

Repeat again the next day.

Oh and if you have DDP be careful with those room keys if there are still credits available.

Good luck!

Since it is more points, there is a chance while there the front desk will let you stay. Otherwise it is ask for early check in, and see if you can just move your bags. I assume you are waitlisting the 1 night too right?

Worse case you pack your bags call to valet then hold the bags and then after 4 PM call and have them delivered. Unless you need to be in yoru room from 11 - 4 it won't be much of a inconv at the same hotel.

Yes we are on the wait list. In fact, it started as 2 nights (wed & thur) as preferred view. Just last week the wednesday night standard view became free, so now it's just the one night. We are thinking of paying (renting) for the difference for preferred view for the last 3 nights. Its not too much more. This way we only have to move once. Thanksgiving is so busy in the parks anyway. Check out, have lunch, visit a few hotel, then check back in. Fully charged for our last few days. :thumbsup2 Thanks for the comments.

I think I would try and find another option so that I only had to move once. You can be homeless for almost the whole day when you split your reservation - we have had villas ready as late as 5:00. I would hate to lose 2 days being without a room - not to mention all the packing and unpacking - that wouldn't seem like much of a vacation to me.

We moved last year on Thanksgiving Day from OKW to Yacht Club (hotel stay). First, check out really just involves leaving your room. So we got up that morning, went to OKW pool, went the room and changed. I had packed up the night b/4, leaving just one change of clothes and one bag out. We gave our luggage to bell services who came to our room. We then went to MGM for one-or two rides that the kids wanted and then took the boat to the Yacht Club. Had we know what room we were getting at the Yacht Club we would have went streight there.....we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite! Our luggage was waiting for us in our uber-fantastic room when we arrived. It was a very easy process. But to be honest, despite the upgrade, I would avoid it because of all the unpacking and repacking and double checking to make sure things didn't get left behind.

We hope to be going again that same week this year but I am waiting for my contract for purchase to close. What resort/size room are you staying in that you are waitlisted for T-Day?
