My wife and I are going to WDW the week after Thanksgiving, 2004, and are debating the WL's Woods View or the AKL's Standard Savanna View. If we stay at the AKL are we able to view the animals from our room or is the view limited? We have stayed at the WL several times, but have never stayed at the AKL. Please let us know your feelings.

If you reserve savannah view you will see animals from your balcony! My mother and I had trouble getting out the door in the mornings since we were perfectly content to sit on the balcony, drink coffee, and watch the comings and goings of all the animals on the Uzima savannah.

I loved the view so much I am taking my DS to AKL so he can enjoy the same views! I am going to miss the location of the Swan/Dolphin resorts and my heavenly bed on this trip, but through the eyes of a ten year old I want to see AKL all over again!

You'll love the savannah view. I saw animals all the time from my balcony (giraffe, zebra). I agree with the previous poster in that many times in the morning, I'd be in the room later than I wanted to because I got held up sitting on the balcony! I definitely spent more time at the resort just looking at the animals than I have at previous stays at other hotels at WDW. AKL is a wonderful resort.

You should definitely be able to see animals from every savannah view room. If you were concerned with standard sav vs deluxe sav, I think the only difference is actual room size.

AKL seems to have a way of describing rooms that is unique to them. They have a standard view room (which is generally parking lot, etc) and a standard savannah view room (incontrast to deluxe savannah view, which is a slightly larger room on a higher floor and some have room for a 5th person on a day bed).

Savannah view is savannah view. Standard savannah view refers to the room size and that it only accomodates 4. We were on the 2nd floor, to be closer to the animals, and loved it. As with anything, it's possible to get a room that the animals don't seem to come as close to, or that has a near by tree, but most savannah view rooms have incredible views of the animals. A room on the Arusha savannah is great. If you expect to use the pool and/or food area a lot, ask to be near the pool.

We've stayed at most WDW resorts and WL has been our favorite since it opened (even bought into DVC at WL), but we'd stay at AKL in a heartbeat. Both are very special, relaxing places. We always go to the buffet at Boma and some trips we've been at AKL twice, even when not staying there.

Hope you have a great trip! Either choice sounds excellent to me.
