Standard rooms at WL?

Are all the "standard" view rooms at WL off the lobby? I've read so much about the noise that rises up from the lobby that I am concerned about a room that opens to the lobby. I'm thinking the best area for us would be in the middle wing between the lobby area and the wings that go out toward the lake. Are there standard rooms in those areas? I would also like to avoid the rooms that overlook the loading area with the beep beeping of the trucks.

I know, picky picky! But that is what I love about these boards, you can discuss down to the last detail all the aspects of resort rooms!

I also love to hear everyone's experiences. I just remember my first onsite stay at the BC and the looong, loong, long... walk from the lobby to our room. My family was looking at me like, where have you booked us into?! All I did was request ground floor and that is what I got, but it turns out my DH prefers upper floors(who knew?!) and we really needed to be closer to the pools and the lobby with our small kids. I had no idea the resort was so long. SO now I do my research!

Thanks!

I would love to figure out what rooms are the ones that over look the lobby. Our honeymoon room was overlooking the lobby and it was so peaceful to sit out in the rocking chairs that they have all over the place at night. While it might be a little noisy during the day it was great to listen to the water and the soft music and hushed voices echo up the lodge during the night.

My guess would be that if you want to guarantee that you won't be over the lobby or the delivery trucks you would probably only be able to do that by booking a different room category. Perhaps others will be able to shed some more light on where the standard rooms are.

We must have been typing at the same time. I too was just asking the same thing. Hoping someone will be able to shed some light on it for us.

We had a standard room at WL and it was a LONG way from the lobby. In fact, we forgot something in the car and it seemed like a 25 minute walk to the parking lot from our room.

I wanted a room over the lobby but my TA told me that they were Suites and Concierge only. (yes she is an Disney Trained TA) (at one of the major Disney Specialist Travel Agencgies). We booked standard thinking we dont need to pay alot for a room, and if they have open rooms I will ask to get a upgrade.

Hi,

The following is taken from page one of the Wliderness Lodge FAQ Thread

STANDARD ROOMS: All Non-Smoking rooms with 2 Queen Beds.
Located on Floors 4,5 & 6. On the North(MK) side, they face the service area. There are also 4th floor rooms that overlook the lobby and look out to roof peaks. Lobby rooms do have balconies.

WOODS VIEW: These rooms are located above the front desk on floors 5 & 6. North side woods view rooms are on floors 1-6 and face the "otter pond"(a handful face MK). Floors 4,5 & 6 above Whispering Canyon are Woods View Lobby rooms.

COURTYARD VIEW ROOMS: Courtyard view rooms can be located on top of the lobby, down the south corridor facing the falls/pool or facing the villas. On the North side, courtyard rooms overlook the falls/pool or at the end of the hallways, facing the lake.

DELUXE ROOMS: They are at the end of the hallways and are considered non-specific views. They can face Courtyard or Woods.

CONCIERGE ROOMS: All are located on the 7th floor as well as the Vice and presidential Suites. Views vary!

HONEYMOON SUITES: are located on the 7th floor above the front desk and above Whispering Canyon.

OKSTATE99 Your TA has incorrect information, Sorry.

Looks like Woods View would meet your request.

Thanks! I guess then the "service area" is the part where I've read the complaints about the beeping trucks.

I'm just wondering where would be the ideal place to be for a real central location, that is fairly close to pool, lobby, buses, boat, etc. I seems from the map of the resort that everything is in different directions.. the buses are off the lobby, but the pool is out the back as is the boat launch. That is why I thought the middle section of the wings would be best.

Sorry, I just am still "haunted" by our check in at the BC, where we walked and walked and walked and walked...it was funny actually but my family thought otherwise! (BTW, I asked for a room change at the BC when we finally got to our room and we were moved right away without any problems to a room closer to the elevators and the lobby. Although our first room was really nice and looked out toward Epcot from our patio with lots of views of pretty trees, flowers and plants, we preferred our second room on the 5th floor which overlooked the front of the hotel and the bus stop because it was more conviently located. We were up high enough that you really only saw the horizon when you sat on the balcony and we could see Spaceship Earth if you looked toward Epcot.)

I have stayed over the service area but I was staying on the 7th floor so we didn't hear any trucks while we were in the room, most deliveries are made during the day when we were at the parks. The Lodge isn't a large resort so even if you are at the far end of the resort it only takes a few minutes to reach any location.

The North Wing Woods View overlooking the otter pond (possable views of the MK's Castle and WISHES if your on the 4,5 or 6th floor) near elevator next to Roaring Fork would be a great central location to be, for the boats, pool and restaurants. The bus stop is locted on the Southside of the Lodge but not far. (Smoking optional rooms are all located on the 6th floor far North Wing available to Woods/Courtyard Views)

Thanks Magic! I have had good luck with my requests in the past, but I want to be sure that I am requesting the right thing! I did get a little "attitude" at the BC when I complained about our room location ("But you requested a ground floor room..") which I realize was due to the fact that I had no idea the ground floor rooms would be 10 miles from the lobby! (ok, ok maybe only 2 miles!LOL)

I'm thinking that the lobby rooms would be cool, but with small kids I am concerned about noise. Not that I need silence but I also would not want to feel like I'm sleeping in the kitchen! On the north side, do the lobby rooms overlook the service area?

We stayed in a "lobby view" standard room our first time at WL. The view from the balcony was a roof and the parking lot. We preferred the view from the room doorway! There was a little noise from Whispering Canyon, but it wasn't that bad. I'm a pretty light sleeper and I was fine. I did roll up a towel and put it along the bottom of the door for additional "insulation". My kids really liked checking out all the little reading nooks that overlook the lobby. I'd stay in one again - they're very conviently located.
