Standard rooms at WL and AKL

My budget can handle standard rooms at either the WL or AKL, which is better?

Should I request specific locations?

Since both are deluxes, they both will be great. I personally prefer WL since it is close to MK, but then AKL has the animals and the zero depth entry pool. What is important for you at Disney? This will help decide which is a better resort.

I'm sure asking the folks on the boards you will get a fair number of people who prefer WL and a fair number of people who prefer AKL. I am one of those who prefer AKL...the reason being is that both hotels really are very similar in layout but having the animals around is a huge check in favor of AKL whereas there is nothing comparable at WL. Good luck with your decision!

Both themes are great and both hotels are wonderful. I prefer the room decor at the AKL though. WL has the boat to MK which is nice.
If you are not real particular about your view I would pick by theme. The standard view rooms at AKL look over the front area parkinglots and bus pick up. Many have vegitation in front of the view. At WL some of the standard view rooms look over toward parking but also of woods and such but some of them are down behind the roofline of the adjoining arcade building whicle others overlook the restaurant loading area and recycling area with woods beyond. I would personally pick a standard room at AKL.
