We are thinking about doing the free dinning in Nov and doing the standard plan. Can you eat whatever is on the menu at the restaurants that participate or are you limited to specific items? And what about Sig restaurants. If you do use 2 of your TS credits can you still eat whatever or are you restricted?

Thanks for any info

Our experience in August was that we could eat whatever meal we desired however appetisers and alcoholic beverages are not included. Kids must order from kids menu or you could pay out of pocket for something else. (Our son wanted the Lemon Rice soup from Kouzzina). Overall it seemed fairly unrestricted.

I knew alcohol was not included but I thought at TS you got an app, entree and desert. Is that no longer the case?? Honestly I usually can never eat an app AND desert but I know my dh always likes a salad with his meal so that would be good to know. Thanks! :)

Not on the standard DDP. You used to when it first started. Along with tip being inc. That changed some years ago. Now it's entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage. I've never been told any entree wasn't included. :goodvibes

If you want to get appetizers inc. you'll have to get the Deluxe DDP.
-- THREE MEALS -- Choose from select Walt Disney World Resort table-service and quick-service restaurants for all 3 of your meals.
-- 1 adult table-service meal includes 1 appetizer, 1 entree and 1 dessert (lunch or dinner only), 1 juice (breakfast only) and 1 single serving non-alcoholic beverage, or 1 full buffet. 1 child table-service meal includes 1 appetizer, 1 entrée, 1 dessert (lunch or dinner only) and 1 single serving non-alcoholic beverage, or 1 full buffet.

-- 1 quick-service meal includes 1 entree or 1 complete Combo Meal, 1 dessert (lunch or dinner only) or 1 juice (breakfast only) and 1 single serving non-alcoholic beverage
.

This has been moved to the dining plan board. For general information on the dining plan, see the sticky thread at the top of the dining plan board titled "Everything you always wanted to know."

The previous poster is correct. On the regular dining plan (1 TS, 1 CS, 1 snack credit per night) appetizers are not included for adults at table service in most instances. Before 2008 the regular dining plan (which was then the only dining plan) included table service appetizer, entree, dessert, beverage and gratuity. In 2008 the regular plan was changed. It no longer includes the appetizer or gratuity. The deluxe plan was started - it includes appetizers, but no gratuity.

Thanks for the info. We have been to DW 3 times in 02, 05 and 08 and always stayed off property and paid on our own. Last time we did tables in wonderland but that is as close as we came to doing anything. I have always been interested in doing the dinning but to be honest it seemed a bit complicated and I didn't know if it would be cost effective or a good plan for our family. But since it is "free" we are going to go ahead and try it and see how it compares to paying our own way.

I THOUGHT you got the appetizers but I must have been remembering the old way. Thanks for the clarification.

Like I said I personally don't usually eat them but I know for my dh it will be a problem but he will probably just have to pay for his salad separate. ;)

Note there are some places where you can get a "three course meal" with your basic DDP credit. However, in those cases, you are limited to a restricted (and generally lower end) menu with no substitutions allowed.

Chefs de France and Le Cellier have these menus for sure. I believe Mama Melrose has a similar "fixed price" menu for the Fantasmic! package.

Of course, if you chose a buffet/AYCE restaurant, the point is moot, as you have full run of the offerings.

Just an FYI: Mama Melrose does NOT have a restricted menu for the Fantasmic package...it is fixed price for the Fantasmic dinner package, but you choose any appetizer, any entree and any dessert on the menu. We have done this 3 times since September 2008, so I know this for sure. It's not a short-list restricted 3 course menu like Le Cellier, Les Chefs, Captain's Grill, etc.
