I have never rode the 20,000 leagues ride :boat: and we,re gust letting Disney ::MickeyMo destroy :badpc: it. Now it time to stop they so stand up and do something like write a letter or protest a the theme park. :worship: :boat:

Wow - you're serious about this, eh? This is the 3rd separate post out there from you. Why are you so adamant about this attraction?

I must say that it was never one of my favorites, but each to their own.

Probably should have tried the campaign about a year ago. The lagoon is gone. Filled in. Nonexistent.

It ain't comin' back.

You have me wondering too. You have started 3 threads, all 3 with the same wording asking people to write a letter or protest the parks. Are you for real? Or is this some kind of a joke?! You really want people to protest the destruction of a ride that has already been destroyed and was closed 10 years ago? :confused3

What was the ride like?
I posted this on one of the other threads...

I'm sitting down for this one. I rode it a lot of years ago (13 maybe?) and it was wholly unsatisfying. Being stuck in a small capsule, looking out the port-hole windows to see fake fish attached to strings to make them appear to "swim" isn't my idea of a good attraction. Not to mention the real algea that was trailing behind the strings which just made the attraction appear uncared for and just pathetic ...

This attraction was just outdated with little hope of attracting a crowd - even with its notalgic appeal.

Sorry

If that's all that I can remember, it wasn't a very memorable attraction.

Sorry too late.

Here are the subs in dry dock.

The 20K ride was abruptly "temporarily closed" for "renovations" on September 5, 1994; It wasn't until early 1996 that it they actually admitted that the 20K ride was closed forever.

ANd one the subs is actually used as a prop at Disney Caribbean island.

"Nostalgia Appeal" hits it on the head. We always seem to wax nostalgic about the things that are gone (it was never a great ride but our memories sometimes tell us differently), but they BETTER NOT MESS with COP! I will personally chain myself to the side of the building if they decide to retire it! :sad2:

Amen to that! COP was groundbreaking in its time and is a huge part of Disney's history (IMO). It's one of my favorite attractions, so I'll be chained there with ya, my friend!

I was 14 the first time I rode this ride. I thought this ride was so bad it was down right hilarious. Here we were with Disney trying to give us the cute little impression we were deep under the ocean, and when you look out the window and crane your head around to look up, you can see the waterline right above you. Gave my group the giggles right then and there (which meant that 4 14-yr old girls were practically hysterical, while people around us wondered if we needed some sort of medical treatment.)

I never like it this ride to begin with. I thought it was cramped, hot and boring. I will happy to see something else in its place.

I liked it as a nod to the live action movies, and 20K was one of the best. At DLR you could actually see the monorail gliding above the lagoon with the Matterhorn in the background. That's cool. :earsboy:

I agree with all the previous posters who said that it was a terrible ride. IMO it was the worst ride of all time at WDW. The last time I rode it I was trapped in the submarine with a group of people who had B.O. :crazy2: Sorry but I am glad that it is gone.

Disney Land, 1971, I was a small child, and I rode 20000 Leagues. I thought it was the most amazing thing. I was on a real sub. I was underwater and looking at the sea. I thought Disney had their own area that the fish just hung out in. I am glad that I have the memories of the ride and I will never see it in my minds eye as anything else. Of course, that trip I was really scared about being shrunken down and injected into a body.

LOL I'd love it back, but it's already gone. They have already ripped it out and filled in the lagoon. It's over.

N.E.D.

While you're at it bring back Eastern Airlines "If You had Wings!"

I thought it was fun. The younger you are or the 1st time you rode it the more realistic. Closest thing to a sub most of us will ever do.
I hear Mr. Toads Wild Ride is gone too - that was one of my favorites
