How much do stamps for postcards cost on Castaway Cay? I would like to mail our postcards from there and know that you must pay cash for the stamps. I want to make sure I bring enough cash with me. Thanks for your help!

Postage for regular size postcards from CC is .55 cents, I had mailed a little larger postcard last year and it cost .65 cents.

Don't forget - the Castaway Cay stamps are also great CHEAP souveniers! We bought a couple extra, DD put them in her autograph book, and then we had the post office "cancel" the stamps!

And you can pay for all of this in US currency even though they are stamps from the Bahamas, yes?

Yes, this is one of the few times that you'll need cash. However, please bring small bills. I was there once when everyone seemed to have 50 dollar bills. The clerk couldn't provide change for such large amounts.

I ended up buying stamps for a few people since I was about the only one who she was able to get change. :teeth:

Hey StuartMI! I live in Plymouth. We are practically neighbors!

Yes, you can pay for the stamps with U.S. funds. Unfortunately, the post office never opened on the day we visited Castaway Cay. We were told that you can buy stamps at She Sells Sea Shells (you can't) and ran back there just before the store closed to find that out. We were then told that you can buy stamps on the ship from Guest Services, which is true, but they are U.S. stamps and not Bahamian stamps. We were desperate to mail all the postcards we had written so we bought the U.S. stamps and our postcard got mailed from Port Canaveral instead of Castway Cay. That was disappointing.

I hope the post office on Castaway Cay is open for you. Have a great trip!

I will be in CC on Thanksgiving 2005. I don't think this is a holiday for them right? How can you find out if the Post Office will be open?

The Postmaster would actually prefer exact change if you have it. I bought two 0.55 stamps (for a total of $1.10). I gave him five quarters, expecting back 0.15. He gave me a quarter back. Some one else was trying to buy one stamp with a dollar bill. He asked if she had any change. I donated two quarters to the cause, as she only had a nickel.

This was at the beginning of the day, so maybe he just didn't have any coins yet. But, better safe then sorry.

Also, there are no pens in the Post Office. Make sure to bring your own, or address the post card before you leave ship.

We loved mailing our postcards form CC. However, if it is mail that you need to get to the US within a time frame, I would mail it when you reach the US. We had mailed around 20 postcards from CC on a Tuesday, on Thursday, I mailed a postcard from Epcot. The post card from Epcot reached our friends before we returned home on Monday. The cards we mailed from CC took another 2 weeks.

Anyone know if the price is different to mail postcards to non-US countries? I'd be mailing most to Canada and some to South Africa.

And be sure, if you send a letter, to add more postage. One year I used the ship stationary to write letters to ourselves, then only put a postcard stamp on (the two ship designs, night and day). They are somewhere in la-la-land.

I think i paid 75cents a card to post to the UK , however it came in 3 stamps and i hadnt left enough room on the postcards so they were dotted everywhere LOL
