staking out a spot for parade/fireworks

This question has probably been addressed before, but I can't find it.

What's the best strategy/seat for viewing the parade of dreams?

I keep seeing people say that the "hub" (that's where the statue of Walt & Mickey is, right?) is the best spot for fireworks. Would that spot work for the parade as well? I suppose for the parade it's best to be right on the curb as opposed to closer to the statue. Is there a particular spot to one side or other of the statue to shoot for?

How early should we get our spot for the parade?

Finally, after the parade, is it best to just plunk down and wait for the fireworks, or would that be ridiculously early?

We were there 2 weeks ago, and we waited for the fireworks in front of the main entrance on an island which looked directly up main street to the castle, there was a kerb then a grassy area we waited at the grassy area so that the people on the kerb were a few feet away and a bit lower, our view was fantastic there were no heads on the video until some person put a child on their shoulders duh!!! We did wait an hour or so but I never mind at this time as I am usually tired and ready for a sit down, we also missed Fantasmic in order to do this in my opinion well worth it as these fireworks are amazing.

tiggerlady, thanks for the info! So it sounds like you were already in position during the parade. Were you able to see that from where you were as well?

I plan on doing Fantasmic on a different night, too. I'm excited to hear that the fireworks are so cool--can't wait!

The Hub, or the Curb by the Hub are the best spots.

I also like the view from the steps of the trainstation. Both would also be goos places to catch the parade.
