Is there a list of rides that require you to do stairs? and do any of them have a way to bypass them. My hubby has a knee and a hip replacement and requires a cane to walk. Stairs are difficult for him. Thank you

Will this be the first trip for your husband after knee and hip replacement? How far can he walk each day? He might benefit from a scooter or wheelchair, BTW.

yes, he will be able to go around the stares just tell the CM when you come to any stares that your husband needs to skip them.

Not his first trip since his replacements but his health in general has declined. He is in kidney failure and soon will be looking at dialysis and/or transplant. This is a very last minute trip as he just got the medical ok...we are going Oct 29. lol. He knows a scooter might be an option but we plan on taking things slow and do a lot of people watching. Stairs are slow and difficult for him

yes, he will be able to go around the stares just tell the CM when you come to any stares that your husband needs to skip them.

at least for me where there were stairs when CM sees his cane they will send him to the wheelchair entrance at least that was true for me. ps Toy Story new track does not have stairs so you will not have to wait at Handicapped area

@bigmac5 You might want to take along the phone number for an ECV rental vendor in your smartphone - just in case.

The *average* Guest at WDW can walk anywhere between 3 and 10 miles per day; our family tends to go on average 7 to 10 miles per day. You don't realize the size of the Resort + the Theme Park(s) + Disney Springs until you start tracking your steps/distance!

The rental vendor can deliver to you at your Resort, or some of the them can even meet you while you are at the Theme Parks.

Renting from an outside vendor (if needed) will be cheaper than renting day-to-day from Disney at the Parks. Plus you will have it for Disney Springs, and around your Resort.

Please tell him that using an ECV while at WDW is very common - many, if not most, of the people you will see using an ECV at WDW never use one at home, in their "normal" lives. It's literally a tool to make the most of the vacation - no different than using glasses to see better, hearing aids to hear better, or a calculator to do math.

Hubby is pretty good at walking...it is just stairs. I was dubbed Official Bench Warmer by the Town Cryer...so I am used to taking breaks hehehe. Thanks We will have a wonder vacation

Good luck finding a bench - there were very few at MK when we were there in August.

One of the first things my dad said when he went back to Disney after not going for 15-20 years was they sure have taken bench away there is no where to sit
