st time with Disney Dining Plan- how do they charge for over credits?

Our Disney Dining plan allows 2 snack credits per person per day. Will they credit the first 10 snacks we order during our five days? Or can we specify which snacks we want to pay for out of pocket, so we can get dining credit for the most expensive snacks and pay for cheaper ones?

They always asked me if I wanted to use a snack credit or pay. I never had any problems. We've always paid for water/soda out of pocket.

They ask you if you would like to use dining plan credits every purchase. You can elect to pay out of pocket for anything you want to or use your credits. Totally up to you what you use the credits on

Just an FYI, we always have snack credits leftover. We have all these wonderful snack plans made but just never get around to eating them all.

When paying for a snack you want to use a credit for, just tell the cashier you'll be using a snack credit to pay. I wouldn't rely on the cashier to ask you first. Enjoy!

Think of the dining plan as just another means of payment, like a credit card or gift card. When you go to pay for any food-related item, you can use either the plan credits or any other form of payment to pay for the food you're getting (or, in some cases, a mix of plan credits and other payments), just as you could choose cash vs. credit vs. gift card, etc.

I would always be specific with the cast member taking your order as to what you plan on using dining credits for (as opposed to cash/credit/gift card/room charge purchases) to avoid any confusion as to having the wrong type of payment applied.

Your receipt will tell you how many credits (of the type you used) remain after the purchase when any dining credits are used.
