Looking for some excursion recommendations for St Thomas/St John. DDs are 10 and 15 years old.

- Random Wind looks interesting, but I can't figure out if it is based in St. Maarten (we are thinking of doing the Captain Bob Cass boat tour) or St. Thomas/St. John.

- We'd love to do ziplining, but Tree Liming through DCL is at 7:45 a.m. which will never happen in my family. We're lucky if we can get off the ship by 10 a.m. Can we book Tree Liming outside of DCL? Tree Liming's website said cruise passengers can only book through the cruise line and not directly with Tree Liming.

- Magen's Beach. We're not really beach people, but would consider going since it's supposed to be really beautiful.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If they enjoy the water, I would recommend the Full Day Sail & Snorkel. My sons (11, 8, & 6) absolutely loved it. Sail on a pirate ship to a cove filled with sea turtles, one of the employees leads you on a snorkel tour, then to a beach with a great barbecue. We had so much fun! Here is also a 1/2 day option available without the beach an barbecue.

Random Wind is in St. Maarten.

If you are up for some shopping, be sure to check out Zoras for some custom sandals! What a special treat, and we bought some on our honeymoon 10 years ago and they still are the most comfortable shoes around - made to fit, and shipping to your house.

St John is 100% more beautiful than Meagan's Bay in St. Thomas. Very much worth the trip there.

Any particular spots or excursions we should try in St. John?

Trunk Bay if you do the DCL excursion and Cinnamon Bay if you go on your own. Honestly breathtaking. I can't wait to back on our Eastern in March & hoping to spend a week there in June.

How do you get to Cinnamon Bay on your own?

We've done this several times... You'll need to take a cab from the port on St. Thomas to Red Hook Ferry. The ferries run every hour. The ferry will take you to St. John, then take a cab to Cinnamon Bay. There are many cabs waiting at the dock on St. John, and they come and go frequently from Cinnamon Bay. All said and done, I believe it was around $50 for all the travel to get to Cinnamon for DH and me.

What time do you catch the ferry to come back? I think the Ship leaves at 3:45. Also, are you able to make it on the 8:00 ferry in the morning?

Can anyone tell me if the butterfly farm in st Thomas is open in May. we are going May 17-24 and was wanting to go to the butterfly farm. (Grandmother really likes butterflies)

Which of the two beaches would you recommend with kids 5, 6 & 8 that love water? We'll be 6 adults and 3 kids going this November.

in st thomas we're doing a sea lion swim

in st martin we're doing a half day catamaran sail and snorkel

and then in the afternoon going to maho beach on our own..

Either. Cinnamon Bay is a tad rougher, but my DD (age 6) loves it! They are both amazing. Actually, I'd bet there isn't a bad beach in the place!!!

The full day sail and snorkel is the other choice we're looking into the price difference may sway some of our group to do St. John's instead. I'll be happy with either.

Fwiw traveling to St. John is at least 45 minutes each way. I translate that into 2 hours total travel time. Also the ride over can be rough at times.

My 2 cents. :)

And that travel time and ride is TOTALLY WORTH IT. Paradise.
