Here's my review - are you able to put 10 on his boat? I thought it was only 6, here's my review, good luck!
Thomas Excursion Review - Island Wilson Excursions Private Charters (Non Disney Excursion). Family of 4, kids ages 4 and 7. After leaving the boat we promptly found a taxi [ask for American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook] (with the help of the gentlemen that run the taxi stand right at the port). The taxi ride was about 20-25 minutes to the Marina and Captain Wilson was waiting outside for us which was nice because I am not sure I would have confidence in knowing where to go. He was also kind enough to call a cab driver to have him return us to the port when the excursion was over.
A few random thoughts:
- In my haste to get the kids out and on time, I forgot my camera! Captain Wilson saves the day with taking photos of us and we were able to capture the day through his camera and he also sent me the photos and I really appreciate that (free).
- We learned so many things and saw so many different kinds of fish, marine life, stingrays, etc. , and also saw so many islands (including Little St. James - google it and it's owner), my husband and I truly felt like it was a private tour of one of the most beautiful places on earth (Caneel Bay = Definition of Paradise, also Honeymoon Beach = Divine).
- Sea Turtles! My daughter had a school report on a wild animal and we selected Sea Turtles because she's a very visual person and we figured it would be easier for her to apply her learning/experience with this excursion to her school report. I emailed this information to Capt. Wilson ahead of time and he was more than accommodating - he took us to two separate places to ensure that we got to see the turtles.
- Sea Turtles again - beyond the comments above on the experience, for me personally, to swim/snorkel with the sea turtles, it was literally one of the most amazing/majestic things I've ever experienced - words cannot describe how beautiful those creatures are and to see it up close and personal was wonderful.
- Ride comfort level - my youngest daughter and I like to go fast but my husband and oldest daughter do not… after noticing their discomfort, Capt. Wilson was sure to check with us on our comfort level with the speed of travel as well as the rockiness of boat travel - I point this out because for some parents who care about motion sickness or sensory concerns - Cap. Wilson can accommodate to the best of his ability, he adjusted based on our feedback.
It was a wonderful, very personalized, memorable experience.
Price: $475 for 4 hours but can be split between 6 people (max of 6 on the boat) plus $80 RT cab fare from the port plus tip. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
