We will be heading to St. Pete for a Rays game while in Orlando. We would like to make a day of it by going early in the day and spending some time at the beach.

Could someone please recommend a beach that would be reasonably close to the ballpark, or at least easy to get from beach to ballpark? Dining suggestions would also be appreciated. It will be 2 adults and 2 17 year old boys.

Thanks in advance

John

you could go to treasure island.. its pretty nice and about 10 minutes from the stadium. you take central all the way over the causeway

The beach at Fort De Soto Park is a favorite of ours.

It's about 16 miles from Tropicana Field to (and from) the beach, a bit further south of Treasure Island Beach, St. Pete Beach and others. Very pleasant, not typically crowded. We've gone down there for a few hours before heading over to a Rays game. It makes for a nice afternoon.

Thank You for the info folks. Looks like whichever beach we pick, it should be a fairly easy drive to the ball game. Trip Advisor has Skidders as their top rated favourite restaurant in the area. Any opinions on that?

Cheers
John
