st marten/st thomas - what can be walked to?

I understand Coral World in St Thomas can be walked to and a Disney excursions is not necessary. Which beaches can be walked to on either St Marten or St Thomas? Anything else?

There are no beaches within walking distance at St Thomas. But you don't need to book a Disney excursion. Magen's Bay is a $6/pp taxi ride each way. Coral World/Coki Beach is a $7/pp taxi ride each way.

The only attractions within walking distance of the ship at St Thomas are the Paradise Point Tramway (see this <a href="http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=237465"><font color=blue>recent thread</font></a> for more info) and the Havensight Mall. The mall has all of the shopping that can be found at downtown Charlotte Amalie although with less character.

At St Maarten, you can reach the downtown shopping area and the Great Bay Beach by walking, but you'd be more comfortable taking the water taxi. Your fare of $5.00 (children are free) provides you with unlimited trips through 6pm. I have more details at my web site...

some of us LOVE to walk and we walked to the Down town area in St. Thomas. (some of us needed to walk off all of that FOOD) It is a nice walk and had a side walk the entire way. The only thing I didn't like about it was the TAXI'S. They stopped us every minute to ask us if we wanted a ride.
We got caught in a torrential down pour on the return walk and I even had taxi's stop when were just on the other side of the Paradise point tramway try to charge us $6 each to take us to the ship. We just ignored them and continued walking.
