Are considering booking a Trunk Bay Excursion.........

Recommend???

Should we select the excursion WITH the LEYLON SNEED or without???

Lastly, is there a cheaper (& reputable) place we might consider booking this excursion thru other than Disney???

Most of the time, when a ship is in port, it's hard to book an excursion on your own, and impossible to book one with the companies that do the Disney excursions. These companies have a "deal" with the cruise ships.
What you can do, is take a ferry from Charlotte Amalie ($7.00, operating every hour to half hour) to St. John, and taxi's meet the ferry on St. John to take you wherever you want to go.....Trunk Bay is one of the #1 places they go. Most of the taxi's on these islands are government regulated, so they are safe, and usually have set rates. Settle on the rate before you get in the car. You can also hire these drivers as all-day tour guides.
The last ferry back to St. Thomas usually leaves St. John at about 3:45
