I think I have it figured out for our Sept 21st cruise.

St.Maarten we will do the Golden Eagle Catamaran,
Castaway Cay we will.... do nothing :) except try for an outdoor massage!!! :)

and at St Thomas I want to go to st.John, but which excursion???
The 5 star St John Beach adventure sounds great, but what about the
ST John barefoot sail & snorkel?
or the ST. John Trunk Bay Beach???

hmm... too many St John choices! we wont snorkel, just want to be on the beautiful beach, maybe rent a jetski if possible!

which one????

thanks! :)

Laura :)

We went on the Champagne Catamaran excursion from St. Thomas to Honeymoon Beach (St. John) and loved it. It was a nice long excursion with food, drink, a great boat and crew and a very nice beach. The snorkling was nice, as well. I see you have chosen the Golden Eagle, which is very similar, so I'm not sure you would want to do both. But, if you have other potential selections for St. Maarten, then maybe this one works for you. Have fun!

thanks!

I dont know about 2 catamaran excursions, although they both sound magnificent!!!

I think either the 5 star St. john
or the champagne catamaran

hmmmmmmm... LOL! I just cant wait to go, I need a vacation!!! :)

Laura,

We did the 5 Star St. John Beach adventure and really enjoyed it!! My brother and his family opted to take the ferry over to St. John and do Trunk Bay on their own. They had a great time too. We opted to do the excursion to do the boat trip over and back, and figured the 1-1/2 hours to snorkel would be enough for our 3 boys. It definitely was enough time. They, as well as, the rest of the kids on the excursion were pretty tired on the boat ride back!! Trunk Bay is an awesome beach. Whatever you decide you will have a wonderful time.

I've never cruised to St. John, but have been to the island many times. If you really want to jet ski, you'd be better off going to a beach on St. Thomas. Since St. John is 75% national park, they don't allow any jet skiing on the island. Personally my favorite beach in St. John is Hawksnest Bay. It's really quiet and private. There aren't too many people there, if you've been to Trunk Bay when the cruise ships come you want to leave like the plague!!! My advice is to go to St. John on your own and go to one of the other beaches than Trunk Bay. The place becomes over run with people and just a few miles down the road you can get peace, quiet and relaxation.

We really enjoyed the 5-Star St. John Snorkel. They really took pretty good care of you. Narration during the ride over to St. John, so you learned a bit about the islands, gave you instructions regarding fitting the snorkel equipment, and let you either snorkel from the boat, or they also took you to Trunk Bay beach via dingeys, if you are a bit more tenuous about snorkeling (our 7 year old was a bit scared, so this worked great).

I would, however, STRONGLY urge you to book NOW. I think you can book excursions 60 days out. I called about 1 1/2 months before our cruise, and some had already sold out.

JMHO, I'm sure others have gotten excursions at the last minute as well.

I would do St. John on your own, for a couple of reasons:
1) Trunk Bay is so busy (most of the time) and is a little over-used looking
2) You don't have to wait for slow people in your group, if you are doing it alone
3) It is so easy to do on your own
4) I would go to Cinnamon Bay. There is a water sports hut where you can rent toys (I doubt you can rent jetskis) and there is a restaurant on site if you need food (haha) There is also a store there, because it is home to a WONDERFUL campsite that we visited 5.5 years ago.
5) The town that you come into by ferry is so cute, I don't know if the tours would let you stop there to look around. You wouldn't want to miss it.
