Has anyone stayed in St Augustine lately? We are planning a June trip, and haven't been in a few years. Casa Monica and the Hilton look beautiful but are too pricey for us this trip. We will have our 2 Dd's, and many B&B's don't allow children. Any suggestions?

The St George Inn is kid friendly. The owner is very nice as well. It is right at the entrance to the city gates in fact. I dont like that its near the tavern but aside from that nice rooms for decent prices last I checked ( which was a couple years back ).Some rooms have a view of the fort ( right across the street) .

There is also always the beachside. There is a Comfort Inn that was always decent and I dont like Comfort Inns at all.

Dont forget to do the Ghost walking tours if you can. Some of them are not to scary and a few go during the daylight. Its a great history lesson and they dont try to scare you at all. One thing cool we saw was the building where the nautical shop is now on St George Street was once a opera house that John Wilkes Booth visited before the assasination. He even carved his initals into the glass window there upstairs in the dressing room. They cover a lot of cool history.

Sorry to go offtopic I LOVE St Augustine!!! If I can help with any info please let me know. I used to live in the town over from there.

Oh Stay away from the Scottish Inn! Its YUCK! I hope they tore that place down.

We just spent one night there on our drive back but it was to shop and stayed near the outlets...I want to go back next year and REALLY see it all...Let us know what you liked and disliked.

Thanks for your reply! I will look into the St George Inn.

There's a family friendly hostel called the Pirate Haus Inn which gets great reviews on Trip Advisor and is in the historic area. They have private rooms which can sleep 6.

There's a new LaQuinta near the outlets; we're booked there in August, I can't comment on my own experience yet, but it gets too reviews on Trip Advisor too.

We enjoyed a Hampton Inn in 07 about 1-2 mile from the sites. It is spanish themed on the out side.

We stayed at Best Western Spanish Quarter Inn last December. Got it for $73.00 nite thru AAA. It's located on Castilio Dr. across street from visitors bureau. Also 2-3 minute walk to historic district.

Hi we stayed at Days Inn in St Augustine it was nice and clean, they have a pool and a Denny's on site and if you dine there you get 10% off your bill which is nice we were there in Sept and we plan on staying there again this year:goodvibes we paid around 50 something a night

We go all the time and on the historic side in town. Try the BayFront inn or the Monterey Inn near the old fort across from the Bay. Both are within walking distance to town and great bay views near the Lions bridge.

When we visited St Augustine last August we stayed at the Castillo Real in St Augustine Beach area. It's a beautiful little boutique hotel and the price was really decent around $85 a night, only a couple of minutes and over the bridge to the Historic area. If you check out my TR, the links below, go to page 4, post 60 there are some pictures and my review. Also on page 1, post 10 there are pics and a review of the Hilton Bayfront, a fantastic, yes, expensive but worth it place. Happy planning.:goodvibes

Photobearsam, where did you stay and how was the shopping? Us Maritimers really like bargains.
