Hello and thanks for reading I just got back from wdw and had a great time.I was thinking about buying into ssr but would like to know if I buy 150 points now can I purchase more points a year from now 2 or 3 years from now thanks for the help.

Welcome to the DIS. :)

If you wish to rent a reservation from a DVC member at SSR (or any other DVC resort), please post the dates you want and the room type on our Rent/Trade Board.

You can also make a reservation directly thru Disney at any of the DVC resorts. At this point, since the resort is not even close to being sold out, Disney will have rooms available- I don't know if they have started accepting cash reservations at SSR yet, but they will soon if not.

Enjoy!

You can buy as often as you like, as long as points are available. Or you can buy through resale if none available with DVC. There is a max amount of points you can have, but it's a lot. Even if there are no SSR points available, there may be a new resort by then, who knows.

If you are talking about buying and becoming a DVC member, yes you can add-on once you have an initial contract. I initially bought 150 points at OKW, then later added 100 at BCV and just recently added another 150 at SSR. It becomes addictive as each new resort comes along, so watch out.

Once you make your initial purchase (via DVC or resale) you can always add-on at a later date. Add on pricing will be the current DVC prices, and you may have to go onto a waiting list if you want to add-on at one of the sold out resorts.

For example, if you bought 150 at SSR, and then wanted to get 50 points at BCV. BCV is currently sold out, but DVC does reacquire points from time-to-time by exercising Right of First Refusal on a resale contract.

But there's no need for the waiting list if DVC is actively selling the resort, as in the case of SSR.

You can add-on as few as 25 points at a time. But if you want to finance the add-on through DVC, you need to add at least 50. And you can add-on as many times as you wish. You could buy another 25 in 2005, 50 more in 2006, and so on.

One nice things about add-ons is the contracts for each add-on are separate. So if you add-on 50 points in 2006, and 10 years later decide that you have more points than you need (kids growing up, not traveling to WDW as much anymore), you can sell a single add-on contract while keeping the contracts you are still using.
