I actually think it will pass without much issue depending on how close the accepted price is compared to the list price. Those monster contracts are very hard to move.

We have 12 yr old twins and it was much easier to chill out and have a beer when they were 2 vs. 9. Just buy them a small toy or snack, strap them in their stroller and relax. They were completely content. At 9 they actually wanted to go do something and the toys at that age were much more pricey! That $8 beer turned into a $30 beer with the purchase of a small $20 Lego set....

If I remember correctly we paid $79 per point for a 400 point contract at SSR a few years ago.

SSR owners, give it to me real: how hard are Treehouse Villas to book at 7 months? Do you need to be owner to get them?

I’d guess we’d consider Jan/Feb, May, August, or Sep/Oct timeframes as likely visits.

Trying to decide if an add-on for sleep-around-points is worth it if prices drop. However my husband and I do love the Treehouses for “resort” stays, since transportation is looooong if you’re staying there without a car.

I’m trying to convince my husband we should plan a “sleep around” trip to try out the villas we haven’t stayed in (SSR, OKW, BLT, Poly, GFV) so that we can really decide if we want to own outside of our favorites. (We are strongly considering Poly because we do love that resort. And when my husband was a kid and his family first went, that’s where he stayed, so it has strong nostalgia value. I just hesitate because of higher point-per-night costs and only having Studios. We like our 1BRs even when we’re there without the kids.)

Treehouses should be available at 7 months for the vast majority of the year. Right now there are 13 days in October missing and 11 in November. While they are nice and a bargain, compared to the Bungalows and Cabins, I think the transportation issue keeps most away.

YES! We are SSR owners and haven't stayed there due to the extra bus you have to take. It wastes so much time! I would want a car or one of those golf carts to take to the bus stop.

Another SSR owner here. Lovely resort, but I have stayed away recently waiting for the fabulous refurb (probably second best rooms on the property after Riviera). Owning enough points for 1 beds I generally stay where I want booking at 7. I like most resorts, the only one I am not that keen on is AKL simply because we walk and run, and there is nowhere there. If I could stay in any my preference would be BWV- CCV/ BRV- BCV- SSR/ BLT tie. So staying in a newly refurbished SSR room is certainly no hardship for me.

We bought at SSR the first time in 2009 and again a few years later, having never even seen it. We’d stayed ay OKW and really liked it there so we just figured buy wherever and book at OKW. We’ve stayed at a bunch of different resorts since, but did finally stay at SSR for the first time over Christmas 2018. We actually liked it much more than we thought we would, and even from the grandstand it was only a short walk to DS.

I just want to say that you’ve all convinced me that SSR are worthwhile sleep around points and that we might even enjoy staying there. We DO love the Treehouses, too. Certainly my DH loves Downtown Disney as he loves to “window shop.” We wanted to add some points but I didn’t want to pay a lot, and the lower cost on annual dues is nice!

Personally I think people should be buying their sleep around points elsewhere. I actually want to stay at SSR as we love it, and these SAP people are propping up the price of SSR (kidding of course, nothing wrong with SAPs)

I have used my SSR points at every resort with the exception of CCV, BRV, and RIV. We stay in a lot of 1BR and I plan the vacations around availability. We do a lot of split stays and always try to have part of the week at an Epcot area resort (BWV/BCV). To me, the grounds, common areas and transportation to the parks at SSR have a feel a little like the moderates. The villas are are larger and with the renovation they are much nicer. So the overall stay is better than the moderates, but I can see how many people do not prefer SSR to the other DVC resorts. Personally, I enjoy the proximity to DS, but I am not sure that totally balances the park transportation difference. Additionally, for my family, saying something "feels like a moderate" is not an insult, it is a compliment. We have stayed in all the moderates and always enjoyed ourselves and had a great time. Just as the kids grew, we got cramped in the rooms. We enjoy the extra space and the balcony we get in the DVC resorts, including SSR.

That’s exactly what we did! Why buy 120-130 pts at Poly/GF when we can get 200 SSR

We primarily bought SSR points to use at various resorts since we'd like to stay at all of them eventually, and we'd be fine being "stuck" there. We've been primarily using those points for VGC stays. We just stayed there in February for the first time in a renovated 2BR in Congress Park and were pleasantly surprised how much we loved our stay. The easy walk to DS was so nice (we really enjoy spending time at DS) and we were lucky with the buses in terms of wait times. We loved the renovated room and it was very quiet and peaceful. It is a bit of a pain to deal with a double stroller and 2 little ones on a bus to go everywhere except DS, so I can see us staying there more often as our kids age out of the stroller and we don't mind the buses as much. We did also buy points at other resorts where we know we want to stay as well, but it's nice to have those SSR points in the mix.
