So we are definately staying in a 1 bedroom villa at SSR. I am leaning towards the Springs because it is closest to the main pool, shop, and restaraunt.

That being said I have heard great things about the Grandstand.

So if you will, convince me why you think the building of your choice is better!

Thanks! :cool1:

We stayed in a 2 BR at SSR in May, and we were in the Grandstand section. It is about a 5 minute walk to the main pool area, which is not a huge deal, but after a full day at a park, it can be a long one. Grandstand did have its own quiet pool, with a fun water play area set up like a car wash. The one thing we really liked was being #1 on the bus stop schedule. My parents were with us, and being older, it was important for us to have a seat for them. Going to the parks, we always had a seat. It's also nice to know you will be the first let off after returning from the park, too.

That said, being first on the bus means you must ride around to the other stops (about 5 mins extra) before heading to the parks. Not a big deal to us, but worth a mention.

We liked it! It was quiet, peaceful, and we had ducks on our patio! How cool is that!

We stayed in the Springs, and because of the heat, I never really walked around and on the bus route, could not see how Grandstand was close (I'm sure I was missing something there)

BTW, our last day ME was not picking us up until 4:00pm and I packed in the A.M. while kids and DH were at the pool; then DH came and met the bellman, while I went to the pool; Springs was real convenient for that. After swimming until about 1:00pm, DD did a craft at Community Hall and DS, played some video games there as well. We also had a shady area by pool, so very comfortable. We then had a late lunch at AP, then caught the ME. Much more pleasant than waiting at the airport!:thumbsup2 (we were too pooped from EMH the night before at MK to go to the parks).

We really enjoyed the Springs with our kids last week. It was great to walk right out across the street and to Community Hall, the pool and Artists' Palette. I think Congress Park would be good to walk to Downtown Disney, but we weren't interested in that this trip - we wanted to be close to the main pool.

My vote- Springs. It is the center of everything and a very easy walk to to all main areas. Walk to Downtown Disney was fine and it was just as easy to walk to the West side as well. Never had trouble getting on a bus from there and it was Easter break.

So the Springs it is! We stayed there in Dec. 2006 and really liked it. I have heard such good things about Congress park and the Grandstand too. But I like that the Springs are close to everything.

Thanks all!

We always ask for Congress Park so we can walk over to Downtown Disney...we always request riverview so we can see the fireworks at Pleasure Island too!

I am not going to mention how much we loved The Grandstand section when we were there in September.:rolleyes1 It might be too hard to get if everyone catches on, lol.;)

The walk to the main pool is very short. My 4 year old did it without a stroller for ten days with no complaints at all.

Being the first bus stop was a big plus for us. I needed to sit since I was one month out from my 3rd knee surgery and have no balance at all. My husband and sons could stand if the bus ended up full (which is did most days by the time we reached The Springs section) but, I could sit with my daughter on my lap.

It is a very quiet location and the themed pool in that section was a big hit with our kids.

We booked SSR 11 months out for this December and my one request was The Grandstand.

Have a great trip which ever section you are in. We love SSR.

As indicated in the map below, my first choice would be in the Grandstand area, the building with rooms from 8501 to 8836, followed closely by the building with rooms from 8101 to 8406. Reasons are:

1. Very close to the main HH area, pool and boat to DTD.
2. Next to the second theme pool of the resort
3. Very close to the first bus stop in the resort

I have heard the Grandstand pool was closed for refurbishing. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, is their a date planned for reopening?

DH and I also prefer The Springs. It's so nice to be so close to Artists Palette. . . grab a bit - grab a drink, it's so easy!

Have you considered Congress Park? We were all set to ask for Grandstand or the Springs but I'm wondering if we should be near the playground in Congress Park. I think I remember seeing a picture somewhere on the net. I noticed you have little ones, is having a playground available something you might want?

We stayed at the SSR this past December and were in the Springs. We found this to be a great location for a family with children. We were right across the street from the main pool and the restaurants. The boat dock to DTD was just behind the restaurants and only took us a few minutes to walk to. Its a great resort - I'm sure you will love it!:) We are staying at AKV in August for the first time - I hope its everything we think it will be.

I guess I am not that concerned about being near a playground. I ht ink after a long day at the park it owujld be nice to take a dip in the pool before bed. that is what dh and I are thinking anyway. We have stayed at the Springs and loved the location but kind of want to be near a pool that is not right in the middle of everything like the main pool is.

If a dip in the pool is what you're interested in, do consider Grandstand. Their pool is very nice. Otherwise, many people love the leisure pool at Congress Park with its view of DTD.
