I am unable to locate this info...When are you first able to stay at SSR not book the room but actually occupy it?

That's great Stacy6552! We also hope to stay within the first week, but since we're not SSR owners, it doesn't look likely we'll be able to get in. Seems odd though that BCV had their big Grand Opening Celebration the morning they opened-ribbon cutting, characters, etc. , but at SSR, if I understand correctly, they open for business of May 17, but have their big Grand Opening on May 27th. Anyone know why that is?

I dont know if member homecomming came first or the grand opening, but I do know that we will be first, ribbon or not. Hoping for some goodies like they got at the AKL (fingers crossed).

Of course whenever I say we're going to be there the very first day, I hear Rose from Titanic in my head saying, "the sheets had never been slept in, the china had never been used...." and that trip didnt go very well did it?

Stacy6552, we were there the day Beach Club Villas opened and I will never forget it. It was pretty exciting and everything was just PERFECT... It was a big deal for me to take the covers off the appliance plugs! Nothing had been used before... There wasn't anything "special" going on -- no grand opening or anything -- but just being there was fun for us. I am such a Disney geek that being "one of the first" to stay there meant a lot to me!

If there were goodies, I missed them. It seemed a lot more "low key," I guess because the Villas just "added on" to an existing resort. Plus you check in at the Beach Club's original lobby, so it was like "no biggie." They were full-up and it was very busy. I remember we 'd had our luggage transferred from a night at Coronado Springs and they couldn't find it for a good few hours! With SSR being a completely new resort, there will be much more fanfare. But as I said, being there on opening day was a thrill enough for me. It smelled NEW... All the DVC folks I talked into were excited to be there and I met "Zamgwar" from the WDWIG site which was a real treat. He was there with his lovely family and I felt like I had met a genuine celebrity. I had an idiot grin on my face the whole time we were there!

The goodies I have gotten always came from the model room at Beach Club Villas. We have dropped in there a few times and always gotten stickers and pins. It seems they have lots of trinkets for prospective buyers. :)
