Hey friends :)

We are struggling with availability for our forthcoming October trip and seem to have just both SSR or BLT as options.

We have stayed at SSR for the past 10 years and although we absolutely love this resort, we just fancied a change but ideally somewhere along the Boardwalk.

Will I like BLT in a 2 Bed Villa?

I'm hearing VERY mixed reviews.

If anyone is able to offer a comparison it would be most welcomed.

Thank you :)

BLT 2 bedroom has an extra bathroom, depending on your guests, the extra bathroom may be a great feature to have

BLT is wonderful IMHO. I own there. Yes, it’s ready for a refurb but hardly as bad as some people claim online. The location is amazing, and personally I like the design and aesthetic. The extra bathroom is indeed a plus.

SSR is a very different proposition. I haven’t stayed there but have walked around. The rooms are more recently renovated and look amazing in photos. The location is very different from BLT—no monorail, no walking to a theme park. Walkable to Disney Springs depending on location. And point requirement much lower.

All depends on what you are looking for. Personally, I think you would enjoy a visit to BLT. If you want to wait a year or two you could visit BLT after it’s renovated but I don’t think that’s necessary.

I love BLT for the location alone. It's totally worth it for the short walk to MK. I had a 2 bed in May when we brought my parents along with us and that 3rd bathroom was so handy. The proximity to the monorail for Epcot was great too.

Very mixed reviews of what nature? BLT design is one of the best for the 2BR's IMO. 3 baths and more room than you'll find at SSR.

Having access to 3 bathrooms is a huge plus in my book. We love the location of BLT as well. We rarely book the studios as they are just too small IMO, but the larger units are very nice and quite spacious. SSR is great for frequent visits to Disney Springs; I’ve not yet seen a renovated unit in person. We’ve always found it useful to have a car there.

Lots of people do not like the theming of BLT. It is very different than any other Disney property.

For ease to the parks, BLT is great! The ride to Epcot via monorail is a nice change from buses and of course, the ease to MK can't be beat.

If you don't want SSR again, I would give BLT a try! We love it...plus, being on the monorail, it is easy to get to Poly and Grand for additional food and drink options!

Between SSR and BLT, I’d book BLT for sure. More space, twin size sleeper chair in living room, 3rd full bathroom at BLT trumps SSR anytime for me. Not to mention park access.

I always think it's good to try something new. That's why we have DVC, right? BLT is our favorite, and home, resort. We have now stayed at all DVC WDW locations (except the 2 WL properties) and we keep coming back. The location is amazing and we like the theming. I have also had really good experiences with the front desk CM's being so helpful and wonderful. We are a 1-bedroom family but with 2 boys (now teenage) the extra bathroom is key!

You are all amazing for answering, thanks guys.

May I ask, is there anywhere to grab a coffee/refill or is everything located in the contemporary, if so how far is the walk?

2 places, both inside the Contemporary- Contemporary Grounds (Joffrey’s coffee stand) on the ground floor near lobby, and Contempo Cafe quick service (coffee/soda mug refills) in the Grand Canyon concourse- accessible via BLT’s 5th floor pedestrian bridge. BLT doesn’t have its own coffee stand, but it’s a very easy 3-5 minute walk to the Contemporary.
