Hi,

If things had gone to plan, I'd be in Orlando right now. I'd have just finished my first round of golf... I'd probably be eating lunch in preparation for my second round of golf today. Then, after golf, I'd be checking in to SSR and shortly thereafter, my parents would join me at SSR.

Unfortunately, things did NOT go to plan. Instead of being in Orlando, I'm in Ottawa (Canada). I was supposed to get a flight yesterday at 7:00pm to Washington and then on to Orlando but my flight was cancelled and the next best option was a flight that gets me to Orlando on Monday evening. As my trip was only going to be 5 days long, I'm quite depressed that it's now going to be only 3 full days. I was supposed to meet up with my parents, play some golf with my Dad and go to Magic Kingdom with them for a day.

Anyway, I'd like to maximize the little time that I will have at WDW. So, as soon as I get to SSR tomorrow around 6:00pm I want to do something FUN to get me out of my funk. Who has some suggestions?

Thanks.

Be sure that MS, SSR doesn't cancel your SSR stay according to their stated policy. That's the first thing I would do, call them!

Hmmm... My parents are still going to show up tonight though. I presume that should cover it, shouldn't it?

Thanks though.

Yes, it does cover it! I was unsure as to whether they were staying with you. Great!

Take deep breaths, and enjoy the time you have there with your parents, lucky you!!!

That will cover it IF today is your scheduled checkin date. If you were booked to arrive last night, they may have already taken the points and canceled the reservation.

If you were supposed to check in last night, you'd better call them right away, because your parents are going to arrive and have nowhere to stay!

I think you need to speak to the SSR Front Desk CMs. When you call, you will probably get the resort call center -- make sure they transfer you to the actual SSR Front Desk, because the call center will not be able to help you.

OMG, yes, I hope your check in day was today!

Oh, thats too bad. I would be very disapointed :(

I heard that Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto was going to get hit hard this weekend. They were announcing here (Nova Scotia) on the radio Friday that Air Canada and Westjet are offering changes (even earlier flights) without penalties to anyone who has to travel through these cities this weekend...due to the pending storm and it being the busiest travel weekend of the year!

I think they were anticipating the major delays & cancellations and trying to get as many people out before it hit!

If this helps:

From the thread below. Good luck.

If I were in your position, I would get to SSR, grab my Dad and head over to Raglan Road at DTD and have a few beers and something to eat!!! (Fish & Chips!!!)

Relax and enjoy the time you get down there, hope you get some golf in too!!!

just think how much more something is savored when it's anticipated, & manage to get every ounce of fun out of every minute you still have there :thumbsup2

have a wonderful time

Thanks to everyone for your concern about me losing my reservation. However, my reservation is for today, not yesterday so my parents will be able to keep it for me.

No more suggestions for how I can cure my blues?

Do you have an AP? I would go see a night program, preferably Wishes if it's on! If you'll be getting to WDW later than that, and if your parents are up to it, go to the lounge and enjoy a drink or something where you can have a view of DTD. I love the view of DTD from SSR. I'm not a night person, but those would put me in the WDW frame of mind.

I'm not an AP holder. If I had one, I'd definitely head to a park.

I do have 7 days left on a 10-day non-expiring park hopper pass though. My wife suggested maybe going to one of the parks but I imagine all of the good rides would have huge lines and all of the fast passes would be gone. :(

If I'm reading the schedule correctly, Studios has extra magic hours tomorrow night and a 10 PM showing of Fantasmic. You just may get your money's worth by using the ticket there. Me? Even before I got the AP, I've used the multi day tickets to enjoy the night shows and I would do Wishes, they're having a parade at MK again at 11 as well.

I suggest a spicy Bloody Mary as soon as you arrive.....quick snack and then head straight for the Magic Kingdom.....

Does it for me anyways. :thumbsup2

OR...

Head straight back for another Bloody Mary!

Glad to hear you're not in the weeds with the ressie. Have a great trip!

I did not see mention if the reservation was only in your name? If so, the parents can't check in. I would call the resort and make sure so they don't have any issues when they arrive. Good luck!

My parents name is on the reservation as well. In fact, they're already in the room! They're quite impressed with SSR.

I'm glad somebody's enjoying **my** vacation! :)

Since you will probably be tensed up from the whole situation and hungry about that time, meet up with your parents and take a stroll/boat ride over to DTD and feast on something delicious. (I would suggest having them/you calling ahead for some dinner ressies.) Talk about all of the plans you have in mind and don't focus on the lost time. Soak in the atmosphere of DTD! It should help your mood! After you have walked off dinner, stop in Ghiradelli's for a sumptuous treat and whatever else you and your parents enjoy!

Have a wonderful time!

PS - We are digging out from 20 inches that fell here yesterday! Our WDW break is in 12 days!! Can't wait to leave behind Ohio weather!
