We will be staying at SSR for the first time this coming January. For those that have used the transportation to/from the parks and SSR, I need help. Are the buses to and from the parks usually crowded?

We will have a vehicle there and two small kids. I just want to be prepared to either drive or utilize the buses.

I don't want to be caught in a situation where SSR is picked up and dropped off with multiple other properties.

Thanks.

I own at SSR and have stayed at OKW, BWV. We have stayed at SSR several times and have found that SSR has the best transportation sytem of the others. They have separate buses for each park, even Downtown Disney. When we stayed and BWV we had to share with YC, BCV, Swan and Dolphin and that was pain, so I know what you are talking about. HERE IS A TIP. If you stay at the Grand Stand section of SSR, the buses will pick up first there and drop off first there from the parks. If you call SSR (407) 827-1100 five days before you arrive they should be able to hold a room in one of the four buildings at the Grand Stand. We were literarally seconds from the bus stop from our room. January seems to be a slower time of year compared to August. Buses were not that crowded, but depends on when you are leaving the parks? Hope this helps.

SSR has dedicated busses so no sharing with other resorts. The resort does have 5 bus stops so it will take a few minutes to make the rounds. However the multiple stops means that you never need to walk more than 1-2 minutes from your room to the nearest bus stop.

You can also use the theme parks busses to get around the resort if you don't feel like walking. The last stop is just outside of the Carriage House, which houses the main pool, restaurants and gift shop. Just board ANY bus at the stop nearest to your room and get off when it stops to pick up guests just outside of the Carriage House.

As with ALL bus service at WDW, experiences will vary from one guest to the next, one day to the next. Including travel time, you're best to give yourself at least 45 minutes to get to any of the theme parks. If you just miss a bus it could be a while before the next one arrives.

We usually have a car, too, and prefer to drive most of the time. That's not a sentiment unique to SSR, but any Disney resort. We are most inclined to take the bus to the Magic Kingdom (due to the inconvenience of the TTC) and occasionally other parks if we'll be there REALLY late and don't want to deal with walking thru the parking lot. The other parks have easy access by car.

We have done SSR in January twice now and never had an issue with bus transportation. One of our stays was in the Springs section which is last pickup inside SSR and we did not experience one time when we couldn't get room on the bus. Another nice thing is that if you are trying to go from SSR to another resort, it's a quick trip (either walking or by bus) to DTD where you can change. We found the setup very efficient for getting around WDW.

I am so excited. I am in the process of purchasing a DVC at SSR. I cannot wait. my down payment is due a week from today. Yippee!!!

Congratulations and "welcome home". I hope you love your DVC membership as much as I love mine.

If you do an advanced forum search and put in "dvc signature" it pulls up all of the threads that have had this information. It appears that the very first thread listed has all of the banners there for you to copy and paste in the one you want (there is more than one option for each resort so it's fun to choose). The other threads probably will link back to that one plus give you instructions on how to copy/paste if needed.

Closing in December??? What a great xmas present to yourself!!!!

Stayed at SSR for 1st time 9/8 for a week in a dedicated 2 BR. I have a 5 yr old and 3 yr old. We requested a room in the Springs section (last stop on the bus) since it was near the main pool and carriage house. Found the SSR buses to be pretty empty most of the time, and getting to the parks did not take long at all. We had such a great time and staying in a 2 Br made such a difference in making it a smoother vacation that when we returned home we became DVC members. We bought at AKL to get the full 50 yrs, but my hubby wants to go back to SSR cause the buses were emptier.

By the way we also had a car, but used the buses 99% of the time, found it easier. Have a great time.

yikes as usual I am unlucky...at SSR now in Congress Park and this morning between 8 and 9 went to bus stop waited thru many buses and some duplicates...bus came did not get everyone on and didn't even stop at Springs and got to the park at 9:30....this has always been my problem with the buses at BWV guess I just have a little cloud...earlier in the week the place was empty?

We were at SSR last week and it was very crowded. We stayed in the Grandstand area. That area is bus stop no. 1. We were always able to get a seat as it was the first stop. The springs is the last stop. Many times the bus was filled by that stop. With the resort now being completed and as large as it is, the transportation system is going to have to make some changes.
